Southwest Dairy Museum and Education Center

The objective of the Museum is to preserve the history of the Southwestern dairy industry for the enjoyment and education of generations to come. This 10,000 square foot facility is a typical dairy-farm style building featuring a five-story silo that houses a conference room.

One of the main exhibits is a series of historical vignettes that show the life of a dairy farm family before electricity came to rural America. At the Southwest Dairy Museum, docents offer scheduled guided tours and can answer questions about the milk and the dairy industry.

The Museum is located at 1210 Houston Street in Sulphur Springs. Highly recommended!

Lake Fork

At 27,264 acres and 315 miles of shoreline, Lake Fork was designed to be a premier bass fishing lake and currently holds records for 34 out of the Top 50 largemouth bass caught in Texas.

This popular lake is located on the Sabine River in Hopkins, Rains and Wood Counties, about 25 miles south of Sulphur Springs. It was impounded in 1980, and today reaches a depth of 70 feet.

Largemouth bass is the most popular sportfish in this reservoir. A combination of restrictive harvest regulations, stocking of Florida strain largemouth, and abundant habitat has contributed to Lake Fork’s development as one of the country’s premier trophy bass lakes.
