Alex the Lion is a magical attraction at the Central Park Zoo in New York City each day, spoken about by Ben Stiller. On the birthday party of Marty the Zebra, his greatest friend, and Melman the Giraffe, and Gloria the Hippo, (Jada Pinkett Smith) with their other buddies, he and his four-footed beast are longing for the delight of untamed life. When Marty learns a band of penguins break up for it, he spends a night in the country by his own device.

The adventure began when Marty escaped the zoo with a crack quartet of penguins — Skipper, Rico, Kowalski, and Private – and he was followed by his three pals to make him see meaningless but in vain. The animals are assumed to be violent on arrival at the Grand Central Station and are sent to the zoo in a Kenya wildlife reserve.

But Alex, Marty, Melman, and Gloria find each other in Madagascar when craftily penguins steal the ship and events shift in an unexpected way. Marty is ecstatic, he is out in the wild, but Alex, who is treated like a king in the zoo, is in desperation to return. The gang on the island is the trust of the cunning and deceived King Julien, a group of lemurs. Alex and the band also save their miserable adversaries, the Fossa, from the lemurs. But Alex, who is desperately looking forward to his carnivorous urges. Longs for his beloved steak, which is the hardest challenge.
