Are you ready to embark on an exciting adventure in Divinity: Original Sin 2? In this guide, we’ll walk you through Chapter 4: Mastering the Source (Part One), where you’ll encounter challenging battles, complete quests, and ultimately obtain the coveted Thieving Gloves from Dashing June.
Part One: Reaper’s Coast
As you gain control of your team, the first step is to leave the ship and head to the lifeboat, which will grant you the waypoint for Old Lady Vengeance. Upon reaching the coast, you’ll notice poisoned pools and tainted fish, indicating that something unusual is happening in the area.

To make traveling easier, head to [X:511/Y:22] to obtain the coast waypoint. Next, go to [X:459/Y:44], where you’ll encounter a beached shark. Although your attempts to push the shark back into the water will fail, you can learn about the Hide and Seek quest by consuming the disembodied leg found in his loot. This will grant you valuable information and 3000 EXP, especially if you have an elf in your party.
Since you’re already in the area, head over to [X:409/Y:10] and engage in a fight against some voidlings. This battle should be relatively easy, as these creatures lack any armor.
Quest – You Shall Not Pass
Recommended Level: 9
After the battle, loot the area and proceed to [X:468/Y:41]. Speak to the boy there and learn that his mother baited the voidwoken inside the city and raised the bridge to save him. Offer your assistance to the boy.
Teleport one of your characters to the nearby lifeboat and use the pyramid to teleport the rest of your party. Go upstairs and you’ll encounter the boy’s mother, triggering a battle. Be prepared for an intense fight with a challenging AI ally.
Once the fight is over, lower the bridge and speak with the mother again for rewards and to close this quest.

Head to [X:435/Y:40] and you’ll come across a wrecked caravan and a scared dwarf woman. Speak with her, or allow Beast to converse with her if he is in your party, to initiate the “Wrecked Caravan” quest.
Loot the area and continue north towards Driftwood.

Quest – The Missing Magisters
Recommended Level: 9
Upon entering Driftwood, you’ll encounter magisters who will inquire about your purpose in the area. Answer their questions and proceed to Driftwood square. If Ifan is in your party, a magister will approach you and initiate a dialogue. In this situation, you can either bluff your way through with Persuasion for a small amount of EXP or engage in combat for more substantial rewards.
It’s important to note that all the vendors in Driftwood will participate in the fight if you choose combat. Therefore, exercise caution to avoid losing access to vendors who may perish during the battle. Keep your party members away from the gate and use teleportation skills strategically to minimize the number of hostile NPCs. This will make the fight more manageable.

Quest – Dashing June
Now, let’s focus on obtaining the Thieving Gloves from Dashing June. Locate NPC Dashing June, who can be found between the square and the Magister HQ. Send the character who flirted with Butter in Fort Joy to interact with Dashing June.
As you engage in conversation, Dashing June will attempt to deceive you and pocket some of your money. Play along until you catch her in the act. Inquire about her need for money and reveal that you promised to meet Butter in Arx. Although Dashing June will laugh and admit to fooling you, she will return your money and reward you with additional funds, as well as the coveted Thieving Gloves (+2 Thievery).
Head to the Tavern, which is hard to miss as one of the largest buildings in Driftwood. Inside, navigate to the small room on the left side of the counter, where a dwarf can be found. From there, access the Undertavern. If Beast is part of your team, he can speak to the dwarf to save you some coins and grant you access to the Undertavern.

Papa Trash in the Undertavern serves as the local vendor for Scoundrel skills, so make sure to engage in conversation if you are in need. Once you’re in the Undertavern, explore the area to earn 5000 EXP for exploration. Proceed to the back of the Undertavern to acquire the Waypoint.
Return to the square and locate two kids named Harriet and Ben Buttons. Inform them about Joe’s fate, the owner of the leg you looted from the shark. This interaction does not yield any experience, regardless of whether you choose to tell the truth or lie. However, if you are truthful, you may receive minor item rewards.
Now that you’re familiar with Driftwood, it’s time to focus on completing your quests. Head to [X:435/Y:150] to find Meistr Siva, who is about to be hanged on the gallows. In order to seek her help, you must save her. Before initiating the fight, it’s important to plan your strategy, as this battle can be challenging.
Begin by sending your tank to speak with Siva and agree to release her, but do not close the dialogue. Meanwhile, position your other party members on the wooden platform, with the rogue near the edge and the remaining characters further back. Utilize all possible buffs on your tank, as time stands still for characters engaged in dialogue. Once your preparations are complete, end the dialogue to initiate the fight.
