The decision came one day after an insider told Page Six that Swift would be making a last-minute decision about whether she was up for the long travel days. “The Brazil concerts … She is devastated about a fan dying,” they said. “The weather is extreme. It’s a mess she didn’t expect. It’s been a traumatic experience. It’s been a lot. She is going to decide today.”
Swift has been overcome with grief following 23-year-old Ana Clara Benevides‘ death, who died on Friday night after going into cardiac arrest due to the extreme heat before the concert. The heat index had reached a record-breaking 139 degrees Fahrenheit.
Swift handed out water to fans during the show and later took to her Instagram Story to address the tragedy. “I can’t believe I’m writing these words but it is with a shattered heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show. I can’t even tell you how devastated I am by this,” Swift wrote.
