What Engines Are Compatible With My Car

Engine swapping is one of the most daring and audacious things that people do to cars. For some, it’s the best way to get the most out of your vehicle’s capabilities. For others, however, it’s risky and one of the many stupid things that you can do to your car.

This article is a culmination of extensive research done online to provide information on the best engine swaps. This includes vehicles whose engines are interchangeable and some of the most sort-after engines.

It also gives you an idea of what engines might be compatible with your car. All in all, it’s good to note that this information alone is not enough. A lot of factors come into play when interchanging engines.

For a non-factory engine that’s meant to replace the original, all the ancillary components must function without a glitch. The entire process poses an enormous challenge, even for the most experienced mechanic.

What engines are compatible with my car?

There’s quite a good number of vehicles whose engines are compatible. However, many of them are models manufactured between the late ’80s and early 2000s.

11. Ford 5.0 L V8

Ford’s 5.0-liter V8 was the go-to option before GM’s LS lineup. Ford built it for the Mustang GT and as a direct rival to GM’s 6.2-liter LS3 that came in the Camaro.

It was also a successor to the 4.6-liter whose physical attributes it carried forward. For the F-150 variant, it produces between 360 hp and 395 hp. The Mustang version offers between 412 hp and 480 hp.

A Supercharged FPV Ford Falcon GT-F debuted in 2014 with 471 hp while Cosworth revealed a tuned TVR Griffith in 2020 with 500 hp.

Below are the models from which you can obtain the 5.0L V8 Ford engine.
