There are arguably very few actors who can be described genuinely as comedy juggernauts.

However, Adam Sandler is undoubtedly one of them and has plenty of high-profile friends, with Rob Schneider and David Spade being among them and have become frequent co-stars from the start.
Whether it’s in Big Daddy or Grown Ups with Chris Rock, you’ll see them on screen together in a wide range of comedy movies, so it was particularly poignant to see Rob honor his great friend Adam when he took to the stage at the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor ceremony at the John F. Kennedy Center.
Although people from Ben Stiller to Pete Davidson were in attendance, Rob may have stolen the show. Nevertheless, his speech encouraged some to contemplate the death of Stanley Sandler.

Rob Schneider closed out his speech with a song in the style of the Adam Sandler song titled Grow Old With You, which was featured in the 1998 movie The Wedding Singer, which also starred Drew Barrymore.
The 59-year-old American actor revised the lyrics to describe his and Adam’s friendship, while also referencing his family.
“You’ve got two beautiful daughters and a wonderful wife,” he sang. “I know Big Stan is looking after you every day of your life. I love you like a brother, thanks for growing old with me.”
Big Stan is a reference to Stanley Sandler and not the 2007 movie called Big Stan, in which Rob played the titular character.

He was 68 when he passed on and Adam has never hesitated to honor his father and discuss during interviews and public appearances how much he values his childhood memories with him.
Stanley even stepped into the coach role on Adam’s Little League baseball teams when he was a kid.
‘We still surprise each other’
Rob was interviewed by Fatherly in 2020 and addressed his then 18-movie run with Adam, being asked what’s the secret:
“Thirty-something years. It’s going on our fifth decade. I think it’s making each other laugh. We still surprise each other, in how we can make each other laugh. It’s always a challenge. There’s a lot of trust. When you’re making a movie, you need to trust the people. Trust is there.”
He added: “You want to be around people who know you and don’t ask too many questions.”
