When Will Year 8 Season 2 Be Released?

The highly anticipated Year 8 Season 2 for Rainbow Six Siege is on its way, bringing exciting new updates and gadgets to the game. In this article, we’ll delve into the details of what’s to come in this upcoming season.

Introducing the Observation Blocker

One of the notable additions in Year 8 Season 2 is the Observation Blocker, a new Secondary Gadget available for Defenders. This digital barrier creates an impenetrable shield that blocks vision from drones, Iana’s Gemini Replicator, or Brava’s Kludge Drone, ensuring that operators or gadgets cannot be spotted through it. The barrier is only visible from Observation Tools, so it won’t affect operators in any way. Additionally, the device will adapt to the available space, allowing for flexible deployment without going through walls.

This new gadget adds depth to the gameplay around denying information, reinforcing the importance of denying Attacker droning. While it won’t replace the dedicated operators like Mute, Mozzie, or Solis, the Observation Blocker offers more options and flexibility when a specific operator is not required.

During the Preparation Phase, the Observation Blocker can be used strategically to hide valuable information about operator selections or the defensive setup. Attackers will have to take more risks with their drones to fully utilize the Attacker Repick feature, as they won’t know if a Defender is watching from behind a wall. This gadget also forces Attackers to be more precise when gathering information since any corner covered by an Observation Blocker can potentially hide a threat.

Operator Changes

Year 8 Season 2 brings several changes to the loadouts of different operators, enhancing their abilities and providing fresh strategies for players. Let’s look at some of the highlights:

Alibi

  • Removed Deployable Shield and Impact Grenades.
  • Added Observation Blocker and Proximity Alarm.

Alibi’s Prisma plays a crucial role in blocking line of sight, gathering intel, and confusing attackers. To strengthen this aspect, Alibi’s secondary gadgets have been modified. The new Observation Blocker allows you to conceal your Prismas from drones, making them more effective against attackers. The Proximity Alarms offer intelligence gathering capabilities and contribute to better map control.

Clash

  • Added Deployable Shield.

To compensate for her limited firepower, Clash now has the option to use a Deployable Shield, allowing her to contribute more to the site setup.

Goyo

  • Removed Nitro Cell.
  • Added Bulletproof Camera and Impact Grenades.

Goyo’s area denial capabilities are already strong with the Volcan Canisters. To provide an alternative to the Nitro Cell, Goyo receives a Bulletproof Camera, which offers intel gathering and protects his gadgets from drones. Additionally, Impact Grenades are added to increase flexibility and allow triggering Volcan Canisters without direct line of sight.

Grim

Grim’s gadget, the Kawan Hive Launcher, receives some adjustments to make it more impactful. The equip time is reduced, and the rate of fire is increased, allowing for faster area coverage. The Kawan Hive’s charge release is also accelerated, making it more likely to catch nearby defenders. However, it is now more vulnerable to various types of damage. The Hive’s radius and duration are increased to restrict Defender movement, while the decay time and interval between pings are reduced. Additionally, Grim’s loadout is improved with the addition of the Baliff 410 shotgun and Hard Breach Charge.

Jäger

  • Removed Barbed Wire.
  • Added Observation Blocker.

Operators like Jäger benefit greatly from the synergy with the Observation Blocker, as it enables them to hide their utility from prying eyes.

Pulse

  • Removed Barbed Wire.
  • Added Deployable Shield and Observation Blocker.

Although the Nitro Cell is a powerful tool when combined with Pulse’s ability, the addition of the Deployable Shield and Observation Blocker provides a more passive playstyle, offering protection while providing valuable information to teammates.

Smoke

  • Removed Deployable Shield.
  • Added Proximity Alarm.

Smoke is known for his area denial capabilities. With the removal of the deployable shield, players will have to make a tactical decision, leaving room for other area denial defenders to shine.

Tachanka

  • Added Proximity Alarm.

The Proximity Alarms give Tachanka precise information about where to deploy his Incendiary Grenades, enhancing his overall effectiveness.

Thunderbird

  • Removed Impact Grenades and Nitro Cell.
  • Added Barbed Wire and Bulletproof Camera.
  • Kona Station Cooldown: Reduced to 15 seconds (from 35).
  • Kona Station Healing: Reduced to 20 hp (from 30).

To balance Thunderbird’s kit, the Impact Grenades and Nitro Cell have been replaced with Barbed Wire and a Bulletproof Camera. Additionally, the cooldown for the Kona Station has been reduced, allowing for more frequent healing opportunities. The healing per tick has been decreased, but the overall healing potential has been extended.

These are just some of the exciting changes that are coming with Year 8 Season 2. Stay tuned for more updates and get ready for an enhanced Rainbow Six Siege experience!
