Inuyasha is a manga series and anime series that ran from 1996 to 2008. It follows Kagome Higurashi, a 15-year-old girl that is transported back to feudal Japan and meets Inuyasha, a half-demon dog and half-human. After Kagome falls into feudal Japan, the sacred Shikon Jewel reemerges inside Kagome’s body and then shatters, spreading sacred jewel shards all over Japan. Together, Kagome, Inuyasha, the demon slayer Sango, monk Miroku, and the fox demon Shippō travel around looking for each sacred jewel shard. They are trying to get them before the half-demon Naraku gets his hands on them. Inuyasha was turned into the anime Inuyasha on Adult Swim in the United States and made by Viz Media in North America.

Inuyasha highlights demon powers and is a traveling quest type of story. Kagome’s body is the reincarnation of a demon Kikyo, and Kikyo’s soul lives inside Kagome. Kikyo’s death led to her reincarnation as Kagome, and the evil demons that they must battle in order to get the Shikon jewel shards back and away from Naraku. Kagome and Inuyasha team up on a quest that leads them all over Japan’s ancient past. Inuyasha goes through Kagome’s time and looks at what Kagome finds in search of each sacred jewel shard. Inuyasha is a beloved manga series for many. The series finished in 2008, and Inuyasha The Final Act was released in 2009 to end the story.
