On this week of The Voice, the contestants performed for a live televised audience and their fate was in the hands of the fans.

As Season 24 of NBC’s The Voice progresses, the stakes are getting higher and higher. This week, the top 12 contestants performed for the first time for a live televised audience. It is no longer up to the coaches to decide the fate of their team members but instead, the viewers must vote to save their favorite artists. The top nine artists will advance to the semi-finals next week.

Of the twelve in the running, the eight contestants with the highest number of votes automatically advanced to the next round of live shows. The remaining four, who received the lowest number of votes, performed a new song in an “Instant Save” face-off to prove why they should continue in the competition.

Jordan Rainer was the first to perform for the instant save with her rendition of “Blame It On Your Heart” by Patty Loveless. She even took off her signature sunglasses during the performance in an effort to connect more with the audience.

Next was Azán singing the hit song “No Tears Left to Cry” by Ariana Grande. She was praised by her coach John Legend for her resilience and incredible charisma.

Third up was Tanner Massey with “More Than Words” by Extreme. At only 19 years old, Tanner’s talent is beyond his years.

The last contestant to perform for the Instant Save was Kara Tenae who tackled the challenging vocals of Mariah Carey’s “Love Takes Time.”
