Why Did Jordie Duperon Leaves Mission Towing

Dylan Greenwood left Mission Towing shortly before it became part of Reliable Towing Services to be the operations manager at their Merritt location.

What fans love about Highway Thru Hell is the show’s focus on the towing companies and the people who work for them, and not just the dangerous work that they do.

One of the fan-favourites on the show, Dylan Greenwood, left Mission Towing in 2019, in order to pursue better opportunities at Reliable Towing Services.

What is Highway Thru Hell about?

Highway Thru Hell is a Canadian documentary series that first aired in 2012. The show became very successful and even went on to have nine more seasons, with the most recent one ending on 17 January 2022.

The show follows Jamie Davis Motor Truck & Auto Ltd. and many other heavy-duty vehicle recovery and rescue towing companies as they carry out daring and seemingly impossible jobs.

What really sets the show apart from other similar shows is the close bond that these towing truck companies have with each other and their genuine interest in helping their communities.

Highway Thru Hell: Why did Dylan leave Mission Towing?

Mission Towing is just one of the heavy duty towing companies featured in the show alongside Jamie Davis Motor Truck & Auto Ltd. Mission Towing was first featured in the fourth season of the show, which aired in 2015.

This towing company quickly gained traction with fans of the show, since it was a family-owned business that was trying to get its name out there again after a devastating fire in August of 2015 wreaked havoc on the original building out of which Mission Autobody and Towing operated.

Although Dylan Greenwood was one of the younger members of the Mission Towing team, he really became a fan-favourite in season seven of the show, which aired in 2018, when he took the lead on some particularly challenging wreck and recovery jobs in in the Fraser Valley.

However, by 26 August of 2019, Reliable Towing Services announced that Greenwood would be joining their team as the Operations Manager of their Merritt location.

Although this news came as a shock to many fans of the show, since Greenwood has not made any official statements regarding his reasons for leaving, it can be inferred that he simply left Mission Towing because they offered him a better contract or better opportunities moving forward.

Greenwood’s move from Mission Towing to Reliable Towing Services proved to be a good one in the long run, as Mission Towing is now a part of the Reliable Towing Services Group.

When was Reliable Towing Services featured on Highway Thru Hell?

The first time that audiences got to see Reliable Towing Services in action on Highway Thru Hell was late in the seventh season of the show.

The Merritt location that Dylan is now the manager of made a splash in this season of the show when they pulled off small and large recoveries despite the increasing danger of mudslides and rockslides in this season.

However, Reliable Towing Services is perhaps best known by fans of the show as the company that sadly bought the HR 117 truck, Jamie Davis, at the end of this season.

Is the drama between cast members on the show real?

Although it may seem strange that Greenwood would leave Mission Towing for another towing company that was also featured on the show, it is not rare for companies on the show to buy trucks from each other or to help each other out from time to time.

The reality of the situation is likely much less scandalous than it seems.

Mission Towing’s complicated history on the show

Jordie Duperon, who was the Operations Manager of Mission Towing when they joined Highway Thru Hell, has been quite verbal about the fact that he turned down the producers’ offer to join the show at first.

However, after the fire caused a decline in business, they reconsidered the offer. Unfortunately, this was not where the ups and downs ended for Mission Towing while they were on the show.

Eventually, Mission Towing, which up to this point had been known as one of the only family-run businesses on the show, announced that it had joined the Reliable Towing Services Group in September of 2020.

To many fans, this felt like Wally and Ken were selling out, but Reliable Towing Services did promise to keep Mission Towing’s legacy and tradition alive.

However, after Wally Duperon Sr. passed away in 2022, many fans are sceptical of whether the business will really stay the same now that so many members of its original team are now gone.
