Who Owns Whiskey Row

Dierks Bentley

Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row restaurant and bar in Gilbert has sold for $8.1 million.

But don’t panic, country fans: You won’t have to two-step elsewhere. The bar isn’t going anywhere.

The once-controversial establishment on Gilbert Road and Vaughn Avenue in Gilbert’s Heritage District is now owned by Treg Bradley, according to a news release. Bradley bought the property from Gilbert/Vaughn Partners, LLC.

An individual named Treg Bradley is the founder of Botanicare Hydroponics, a Chandler-based growing equipment company acquired by a subsidiary of Scott’s Miracle-Gro in 2016. It’s unclear if that is the same Treg Bradley who bought the Gilbert property.

Whiskey Row will continue to operate under a long-term lease in the space, the release said. The building boasts 13,841 square feet and the bar is run by Riot Hospitality Group.

In 2015, a group of Gilbert residents opposed plans for the bar, worried that it might bring a rowdy crowd to the town’s family-friendly atmosphere. The Heritage District location opened its doors last year, with a free concert headlined by country pop singer Kelsea Ballerini.

The restaurant has two other locations in metro Phoenix, on Tempe’s Mill Avenue and in Old Town Scottsdale. Both properties are owned by different companies. Bradley’s purchase only included the Gilbert location.

Heritage District continues to grow

Gilbert’s Heritage District is an attractive town mainstay, with a lineup of restaurants that includes Snooze, Postino Wine Cafe, Joyride Taco and Liberty Market.

The area is so dense with restaurants that Gilbert is building a $14 million parking garage near Gilbert Road and Vaughn Avenue with 600 stalls to ease parking frustration. The top of the structure will include an illuminated clock tower.

The town is also prepping to unveil a comprehensive redevelopment plan this fall to guide the Heritage District’s future development. The plan will examine past capital improvement projects, possible infrastructure needs and strategies for further redeveloping the popular stretch.

Gilbert Town Council is expected to a review and approve a draft of the plan in September.
