Biography
Garrett was born on September 3rd, 1987, in South Carolina, USA.
The exact city or town of his birth is unknown, though it is speculated that it is Spartanburg, South Carolina – the town where Garrett would later work as a patrol cop.
Garrett attended Spartanburg Community College in 2014, though it is unknown how long he attended.
He later served in the US Navy for five years.
Police Career
Garrett was a police officer in Spartanburg, North Carolina, for an unspecified number of years until July 2016.
During that time, he made headlines after rescuing an undersized kitten from floodwater.
Garrett adopted the kitten and posted several pictures of himself with the kitten to Instagram.
The photographs went viral, making an internet sensation out of the police officer.
He later appeared in Huffington Post and Buzzfeed, and claimed to have been inundated with marriage proposals after the pictures became hugely popular.

Garrett uploaded his first video to YouTube, ‘Blowing Up My Son On Minecraft,’ in February 2016.
It was a prank video in which, in retaliation for his son having been unkind to his daughter, Garrett set a trap for the former on the popular videogame Minecraft.
The video received relatively few views compared to Garrett’s later work; at the time of writing, it has amassed just over 80,000 views.
”At the time, I had just quit policing to pursue YouTube,” Garret explained. He added: ”I ended up living in my mom’s basement for 2 years while grinding on YouTube. She believed in me and never asked for a penny.”
Rescued A Tiny Kitten

Garrett’s popularity spiked with an upload documenting the life of the kitten he rescued, with 598,000 views.
He decided to name the new cat Squirt.
”We named him squirt because he is small, and he squirted yellow all over the place when we brought him home,” he said.
Garret already had a rescue cat who had just given birth to three kittens. One of his cats named Toothless decided to take the role of mama cat for “Squirt.”
”Toothless is all strung out on the catnip I gave her for being such an awesome mom,” Cody said on his Instagram. Squirt and Keanu are pretty happy though.”
After this, his channel became more and more popular; his video documenting his resignation from the police force, uploaded toward the end of July 2016, garnered an astonishing 3 million views and established Donut Operator as an extremely popular YouTuber.
From this point onward, Garrett became much more popular.
He dedicated a lot of his time toward reacting to police bodycam footage and other footage involving police officers in what he termed ‘breakdowns.’
During the course of these breakdowns, Garrett went into detail about the techniques and training employed by law enforcement officers, explaining it in layman’s terms so that his viewers could better understand how and why the police went about de-escalating situations in the way that they did.
