What Happened To Marilyn Gladstein

A house of horrors where dozens of dogs died at the hands of their neglectful owners has now been abandoned after they were jailed for their cruelty.

More than 100 dogs and puppies were starved and left in appalling conditions at the house belonging to former dermatologist, Dr Michael Gladstein, and his wife Marilyn.

The poor animals were only discovered after an alarm was triggered by the amount of ammonia in the house from all the dog urine.

Many of the 115 abused pups had tragically already died in the house, while a neglected pony with hooves completely overgrown in what would have left it in excruciating pain was also discovered.

Now pictures have revealed a chilling glimpse inside the since-condemned property in Huntingdon, New York, which has laid abandoned for over a decade after the couple were convicted and their children taken into care.

The couple were arrested in 2010 after emergency services were called to the family home, discovering its horrific state that was so bad, hazmat suits were required.

British urban explorer Ben James visited the empty house taking pictures which show its neglected rooms frozen in time.

One striking image shows the roof collapsing onto the master bedroom, while others show the children’s bedrooms still intact with their multitude of dolls and toys left behind.

The 32-year-old explorer from Cambridge described the inside of the boarded-up home as a “time capsule”.

“The house has sat abandoned and it is in the middle of nowhere so it is very creepy, it’s literally like a horror film,” he said.

Despite the house’s gruesome backstory, the bedrooms appear to have been kept in a reasonable state with grand décor, including ornate wallpaper and furnishings which were a far cry from the miserable conditions the dogs were subjected to.

“The house was freezing, it was less than ten degrees, but it was quite an amazing house,” he said.

“The weirdest thing was the kid’s bedrooms, the fact that they were still fully set up with hundreds of toys.

“It would have been a beautiful house at one point probably worth millions of dollars.

“It’s just crazy how such a well respected person in that profession, their life just went bad.

“Having a house that was once a family home just completely frozen in time and thinking of the absolute horrors of all the animals that died there, you do wonder how did that happen?”

Reports from September, 2010, reveal Dr Gladstein and his wife were arrested and faced federal charges over the abuse, after the surviving dogs were found “fighting over every drop of water they could get”.

Chief Roy Gross, from Suffolk County’s branch of the SPCA, said” “Rescuers had to wear hazmat suits and respirators, due to the overwhelming odours.

“There were also dead dogs and parts of dogs found in the home.”
