Still, throughout summer, all indications are that Hall’s remained setback-free. While a slow start is likely, Hall could quickly emerge as a weekly RB2 alongside new QB Aaron Rodgers.

What We Learned Last Year

The Jets selected Hall in Round 2, making him the RB1 in the ‘22 class.
RB Michael Carter entered last September as New York’s lead back. But one month in, Hall established himself as the RB1.
In seven games, Hall ranked as a top-16 PPR RB five times.
Among 54 RBs with 80+ carries, Hall ranked first in yards per carry, first in Elusive Rating, and first in yards after contact per attempt.
Hall struggled with drops as a pass catcher (five). But he ranked second at the position in yards per route run, boosted by a 79-yard reception.
- Hall played only sparingly outside of the backfield, seeing nine slot snaps; 12 out wide.
In Week 7, he suffered a torn left ACL and a meniscus injury against Denver.
It’s the first major injury of Hall’s career. He appeared in 36 games across three years at Iowa State.

What to Expect in 2023

Hall’s 2023 outlook largely depends on health.
All offseason, the news out of New York suggests he’ll play Week 1.
- In late May, HC Robert Saleh said he’s optimistic on Hall’s Week 1 availability.
- Saleh added that Hall hit 22 MPH on the GPS during rehab. Impressive.
The Jets return Michael Carter for year three. He averaged just 3.5 yards per carry on 114 attempts in 2022.
Pittsburgh RB Israel Abanikanda joined the squad as a Round 5 pick. He brings impressive long-range speed – but he’s not a threat to steal touches from a healthy Hall.
Zonovan Knight returns as another depth piece. His role grew down the stretch in 2022, but he’s a replacement-level player.
Most notably, New York inked Dalvin Cook to a one-year deal in August. Earning over $7 million, he’s locked into a sizable role. Still, his durability at 28 (plus a history of shoulder injuries) is a major concern.
QB Aaron Rodgers joined to give this unit a major lift. Despite a down year in 2022, we’re not betting on Rodgers being washed.He’s just one year removed from an MVP season in Green Bay and played through a thumb fracture for most of 2022.
Rodgers’ presence boosts a 2022 unit that ranked 25th in yards per game; 29th in points per game.
The Packers replaced OC Mike LaFleur with former Broncos HC Nathaniel Hackett.
- Hackett was OC for three seasons in Green Bay, so he brings familiarity for Rodgers.
Hall will run behind an O-line that looks improved.
- The Jets added rookie C Joe Tippmann in Round 2.
- The team is optimistic they’ll get more out of former Round 1 OT Mekhi Becton.
We’ll keep an eye on 38-year-old OT Duane Brown, though. He underwent offseason shoulder surgery and isn’t a Week 1 lock.
