Instagram messages are ‘not deleting’ for some users
DMs on Instagram appear to be facing a glitch as many users aren’t able to delete the messages from their chats.
When you select a certain chat and tap on the delete option, the app isn’t getting rid of the messages for a lot of users. The chats are still visible in the inbox.
Instagram hasn’t addressed the issue at the time of writing, and as the same issue has occurred previously, it is possibly a temporary glitch.

The users are annoyed, nevertheless, because they simply don’t want to keep certain conversations intact in their DMs.
One user who thinks Instagram has permanently removed the delete option, which is highly unlikely, commented on Twitter: “You can’t delete messages on Instagram anymore”

One user said they aren’t able to delete a chat despite blocking the account from which the messages were sent.
Possible reasons why you can’t delete chats on Instagram
If the glitch is caused by an unidentified bug, the issue with the messaging option is temporary and it should be fixed in a few hours. You can always reach out to the Instagram team for an update via their official account for customer support.
Other issues such as an interrupted Internet connection or uncleared cache are some of the common and possible reasons for not being able to get rid of the messages.

Make sure the Instagram app on your device is updated to its latest version because if an update is due, certain options stop working.
You can turn your phone off, back on, and then try deleting the messages, or log out from the app and log in again.
