Where Is Balens Backpack Bg3

Are you having trouble figuring out how to save Baelen in Baelen in Baldur’s Gate 3? We’ll give you tips on how to rescue the dim-witted mushroom picker.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is full of dangerous areas that can harm you in different ways. Baelen, a Mushroom Picker, has been stranded in one of these areas of the Underdark. Now, rescuing him isn’t easy given how dangerous the area is. But when his wife starts pleading for you to save him in Myconid Colony, how can you refuse? To clear the Mushroom Picker side quest, you need to save Baelen from danger. For your ease, we’ve made an easy guide on how to save Baelen in Baldur’s Gate 3.

How To Rescue Baelen in Baldur’s Gate 3

In order to save Baelen, you must find him in the Mushroom Field first. It’s filled with green Bibberbang fungus, so you must use a spell to get to Baelen’s bag which contains a scroll that can save him. You can use Turn-based Mode to navigate to it, or spells like Misty Step, Dimensional Door, or Fly for this purpose. Once you get to Baelen’s bag, open it up, retrieve the scroll of Misty Step and then throw that over to him through dialogue to get him out of the field.

Now, while this quest seems really simple at first glance, the problem is that the entire Mushroom Field is filled with flammable fungus. If your character or anything else touches the fungus, it will light up the entire field due to a flaming torch on the ground. This will kill Baelen and likely most of your party if they’re caught in the explosion. However, first, let’s talk about how to find Baelen.

How To Find Baelen

When you get to Myconid Colony, you’ll interact with a street vendor, Derryth Bonecloack. She will tell you she’s looking for her husband, who has been picking mushrooms somewhere nearby. Once you accept the Mushroom Picker quest, a general area of his whereabouts will light up on your map. It shows him to be West of Myconid Colony.

When going West, you’ll encounter a patrolling monster who you can wait for to pass before moving ahead. Climb down the cliff towards the mushroom field covered with green fungus to see Baelen stranded in the center. His bag will be near him in the mushroom field, along with a flaming torch.

You can use a water spell to douse the torch to prevent any mishaps. Similarly, you can throw a bottle of water on the torch for the same effect. This will make it easier to get to Baelen, even if some of the mushrooms trigger.

How To Get a Noblestalk

After you save Baelen, you can also get a unique plant called Noblestalk on the eastern side of the mushroom field. This is beneficial for you going forward, and you can try to harvest it if possible. But do remember that it will be destroyed if the field erupts in flames, so be very careful.

The method to get it is the same as saving Baelen. Use a Turn-based Mode, Mist Step, Dimensional Step, or Fly to get the plant, harvest it, and get back to safety. There are also several Lolth’s Candles to harvest a bit further east as well.

With everything done, gather your party and go back to Myconid Colony to find Derryth Bonecloak and Baelen there. It turns out that they were looking for Noblestalk. That was probably how Baelen got stuck in the mushroom field in the first place.

When you offer it to them, they might refuse to give you anything in return. You can either use the Intimidation skill to get a wedding ring, leave without giving them the plant, or give them the plant for which she will give you the Gloves of Uninhibited Kushigo.

If you choose to keep the Noblestalk, you can offer it to some characters due to its healing and mind-clearing properties. For example, Shadowheart is one of the characters who can use Noblestalk. Moreover, even your character can get an interesting benefit from the plant if you’re playing as the Dark Urge origin.
