Hijack is a new British thriller miniseries starring Luther’s Idris Elba and it’s streaming now on Apple TV+.
Elba plays Sam Nelson, a seasoned corporate negotiator who happens to be on a flight from Dubai to London when it’s overtaken by terrorists. As the passengers deal with the circumstances of the hijack in the air, authorities on the ground scramble for answers.

Episodes are told in real-time over the course of the seven-hour flight, with the series having seven episodes in total.
WATCH HIJACK ON APPLE TV+
The first two episodes are available now on Apple TV+ after releasing on June 28, 2023, with the rest releasing weekly on Wednesdays until the finale on August 2.
You can watch Hijack for free by taking advantage of a seven-day free trial if you’ve never signed up for Apple TV+ before. When the trial runs out after seven days, you’ll have to pay the usual subscription price of £6.99 a month.
The seven-day free trial isn’t the only way to get access to Apple TV+. If you’re a Sky customer, you can get six months of Apple TV+ free as a VIP subscriber.

Apple TV+ is also included if you purchase an Apple product like an iPhone, iPad or MacBook, as you’ll get the option to have Apple TV+ free for three months as a bonus.
Apple One also gives you access to Apple TV+, as it bundles a collection of Apple services such as Apple TV+, Apple Arcade and Apple News+ together for one cost – the package is priced at £16.95 a month, but you can try it out for free with a one-month Apple One free trial.
Mobile network EE also offers six months of Apple TV+ free to some customers, while Barclaycard holders can also take advantage of five months of Apple TV+ free.
If you have a PS4 or PS5 and have never subscribed to Apple TV+ in the past, you can get a free trial, as PlayStation is offering six months of Apple TV+ free for PS5 owners, and three months free for PS4 owners.
Tech retailer Currys also offers three months of Apple TV+ free when signing up for its loyalty scheme Currys Perks.

At time of writing the show is currently sitting at 90% on Rotten Tomatoes from critics, with our review calling the show “highly watchable” thanks to Elba’s “raw charisma on screen” and the show’s ability to maintain momentum from one episode to the next.

The series also stars Archie Panjabi as counter-terrorism agent Zahra Gahfoor, Christine Adams, Eve Myles and Max Beesley, with Elba also executive producing the show alongside Lupin and Hijack creator George Kay.
Hijack joins other Apple TV+ original shows on the platform including Ted Lasso, Severance, Silo, Black Bird and recent Tom Holland crime-drama The Crowded Room.

Speaking to Digital Spy and other press, Elba detailed the action sequences and how they used the space of the plane to film them.
“Sam does a lot of sneaking around the plane. Me sneaking on a plane is like, bro, what are you doing? We can see you. So it meant that I had to either get lower or we had to figure out another way,” said Elba.
“It really adds to the drama and the reality of this thing,” he added. “The fight sequences were certainly hard to shoot. They were choreographed within the space. If we hurt ourselves, we just took a breather and carried on.”
Hijack is streaming now on Apple TV+ with new episodes releasing weekly.
