Arizona Wildcats vs Oklahoma Sooners

The 2023 Alamo Bowl features the Arizona Wildcats of the Pac-12 and the Oklahoma Sooners of the Big 12. These are two of the best football teams in the NCAA and this should be a great game!

The Wildcats ended the 2023 football season in third place in a strong Pac-12 Conference. Their final record was 9-3 with 7-2 in against Pac-12 opponents. All of their losses were during the first half of the season and they managed notable wins against Oregon State, UCLA, and Utah.

The Sooners saw similar success coming third in the Big 12 with a record of 10-2 (7-2 in-conference). Their two losses were each by less than a touchdown. They are very strong although a lot of talent is leaving.

Arizona Wildcats Personnel

Jedd Fisch has been head coach of the Wildcats for three years during which his record was 15-21 with a strong upward trend. With him are offensive coordinator Brennan Carroll and defensive coordinator Johnny Nansen.

Quarterback Noah Fifita will lead the Wildcats’ offense. With him are running back Jonah Coleman, wide receivers Tetairoa McMillan and Jacob Cowing, and tight end Tanner McLachlan.

The Wildcats’ defense features linebackers Jacob Manu, Justin Flowe, and Taylor Upshaw, defensive backs Tacario Davis, Ephesians Prysock, Dalton Johnson, and Gunner Maldonado, and linemen Bill Norton, Tyler Manoa, Isaiah Ward, Ta’ita’i Uiagalelei, Tiaoalii Savea, and Russell Davis II.

Oklahoma Sooners Personnel

Head coach Brent Venables has been with the Sooners for two seasons with a record of 16-9 (10-8 in-conference). With him are defensive coordinators Ted Roof, Todd Bates, and Jay Valai. Offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby has left to be head coach of Mississippi State.

Quarterback Dillon Gabriel has entered the transfer portal so Freshman Jackson Arnold will be leading the Sooners’ offense at the Alamo Bowl. With him are running back Gavin Sawchuk, wide receivers Drake Stoops, Nic Anderson, and Jalil Farooq, and tight end Austin Stogner.

On defense are linebackers Danny Stutsman, Jaren Kanak, and Kip Lewis, defensive backs Woodi Washington, Peyton Bowen, Billy Bowman Jr, Kani Walker, Kendel Dolby, and Key Lawrence, and linemen Ethan Downs, Jordan Kelley, Isaiah Coe, and Rondell Bothroyd.
