After the unfortunate death of Vicente Fernández, some contemporary artists have remembered him with great affection. Such is the case of Andrés García, who recalled an anecdote he experienced with the Charro de Huentitán in a meeting with the public.

The regional Mexican singer died on December 12, 2021, at 81. The singer remained hospitalized for more than four months in a hospital in Guadalajara, Jalisco, due to a fall and was also diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome. Currently, his remains rest inside his ranch Los Tres Potrillos.
Andres Garcia gave an interview for the program Hoy, where he remembered, with nostalgia and admiration, the man he considered one of his best friends. The movie star said that on one occasion, he was with Vicente Fernández in Mexico City, and, as expected, the people there did not hesitate to approach them but not ask for photographs of the two artists.

“Vicente was so authentic that one day when we were coming down Insurgentes, I don’t know if it was his fifth or sixth movie or another movie, I already had 50 movies, he realized that most of the people were waving at me, asking me for autographs,” he said.
The situation made Charro de Huentitán a little uncomfortable, as he did not understand why Andrés García was more requested by the crowd and ended up commenting very much in his style.
“In that ranchero tone he used, he said: ‘Ching*, next time I’ll dress up as a charro and see who they greet the most’,” said the Dominican singer.
The star of memorable Mexican productions such as Pedro Navaja, Mujeres engañadas, La mujer prohibida and La venganza de María, also shared the main qualities he saw in Vicente Fernández. In addition, he commented that the Charro de Huentitán is the best interpreter of regional Mexican music, in his opinion.
“Vicente left us, besides being, in my opinion, the best ranchera singer in the country’s history, he was a good man, he was a good person, he was an intelligent man,” he added.

Finally, the movie star lamented the death of his friend, as he also considers him one of the country’s most representative figures. The Dominican explained that it would be very difficult for another singer or actor to shine at that level in the following years since few artists manage to position themselves at the top of success.
“Vicente was a year older than me, although he started after me in the movies. The great figures are running out, now, from there to be made, to be built or become great figures, it takes at least 20, 25 years, they are not made so fast,” he continued.
In a previous installment of the same interview, Andres Garcia confessed that he is going through complications in his health, as he was recently diagnosed with a spinal cord ailment that forced him to request a blood transfusion.
The 80-year-old actor explained that the process was delayed due to the past Christmas holidays, but he hopes that he will be able to go ahead in the next few weeks. He also commented that it is O-negative blood, which is usually difficult to find, so he asked for help to get it.
“He has a condition in which his spinal cord destroys his red blood cells, so now his hemoglobin is very low, and he needs that transfusion to stabilize a little,” his wife, Margarita, told the morning news cameras.
