When Is Dragonflight Season 2

The release of World of Warcraft’s Dragonflight Season 2 marks another major content refresh for both PvP and PvE enthusiasts of the MMORPG. Whether you’ve been playing since launch or are still on the fence about the expansion, the start and end dates of this season are likely on your radar.

During the start of WOW: Dragonflight’s Season 2, a new raid will open its gates while a refreshed batch of Mythic+ dungeons will be featured, along with the beginning of a new PvP Season.

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight Season 2 Release Date

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight’s Season 2 didn’t receive a fixed start and end date when it was announced, but Blizzard did share that it was expected to kick off at some point between summer and spring 2023.

  • World of Warcraft: Dragonflight Season 2 start date: May 9, 2023 (NA)/May 10, 2023 (EU)

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight Season 2 end date: Sometime during fall 2023 (GameWatcher estimation)

The developer later confirmed, in April, that WoW: Dragonflight’s Season 2 start date has been locked down to the week of May 9, so likely May 9 (NA)/May 10 (EU). Patch 10.1, the expansion’s first major post-launch update, accompanies it.

Dragonflight Season 2’s end date is currently expected to occur at some point during fall 2023.

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight Season 2 Content

WoW: Dragonflight’s Season 2 introduces the expansion’s second raid, located in the new Zaralek Cavern underground zone.

Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible takes players through Neltharion’s secret laboratory, where he created the Dracthyr and was corrupted by the Old Gods.

Its Normal, Heroic, and Mythic difficulties go live on May 9, pitting players against the following nine bosses:

  • Kazzara, the Hellforged

The Amalgamation Chamber The Forgotten Experiments Assault of the Zaqali Rashok, the Elder The Vigilant Steward Zskarn, Magmora Echo of Neltharion Scalecommander Sarkareth

New tier sets will also be introduced for each of the MMORPG’s playable classes.

New Mythic+ and PvP seasons also begin when Season 2 arrives. The former will continue the trend of highlighting both dungeons from WoW’s latest expansion and its past as part of a new featured rotation, which has now been revealed.

  • Brackenhide Hollow

Halls of Infusion Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr Neltharus Freehold (Battle for Azeroth) The Underrot (Battle for Azeroth) Vortex Pinnacle (Cataclysm) Neltharion’s Lair (Legion)

New seasonal affixes are in development and should make their way to the PTR, unless plans change in the meantime.

As was the case with its predecessors, World of Warcraft: Dragonflight’s Season 2 gives players the opportunity of chasing down exclusive rewards between its start and end dates.

Raiders will likely have Ahead of the Curve and Cutting Edge achievements to aim for, Mythic+ players can target Keystone Master, while PvP enthusiasts can battle each other for new shiny goodies. Here is a breakdown of the latter:

  • Title: Obsidian Gladiator for rated 3v3, and Obsidian Legend for Rated Solo Shuffle

Among a sweeping set of other changes that made their way to the PTR, Blizzard has announced that it is looking at retiring the Explosive affix from Mythic+ dungeons and replacing it with Volcanic.

Periodic affixes (like Afflicted or Incorporeal) will now be added at keystone level 7 while affixes that trigger on death or health ranges (Spiteful, Sanguine) will now be added at level 14, which basically means they’ve been switched around.

Blizzard has shared a few additional details that should help us prepare.

When Season 2 begins, Mythic+ keystones will drop 9 levels in addition to any normal weekly reduction. When the Catalyst opens the week of June 13, all players receive a free charge for every character they have.

“These will function the same as they always have – if your Main spends a few to convert items early in the season, it doesn’t impact your alt (or any alt characters you may make in the future),” the developer explains.

“Unlike in Shadowlands Season 3, there will be no cost associated beyond the charge spent. No Cosmic Flux, no Dragon Isles Supplies, no Apexis Crystals – if you’ve done the work of obtaining a convertible item, that’s enough.”

As far as the Great Vault goes, killing a raid boss now gives a chance to obtain loot from all the previous bosses. “For example, if you’re invited to a kill on Sarkareth, you’ll be 1/9 towards vault progress for that week. However, you’ll now have the loot from the entire raid in your vault pool for the raid slots. This change will go into effect with the first week of the Aberrus raid in Season 2.”
