What Are Que Dogs Known For

Ever wonder what the Greeks thought of each other?

Nationally, every organization has a known stereotype.

Growing up, I only knew what I saw on television. I heard of Deltas, AKAs, and Ques. I wasn’t aware of my organization until I enrolled in college. However, the stereotypes vary depending on what institution you’re at.

At SSU the Alphas, wearing the black and gold are categorized as the prestigious of the Greeks. The Alphas are the suit wearing brothers who serve on the Student Government Association board. They run the school, not the yard, there’s a difference. These guys are a part of the first Greek organization of the Divine Nine, and they won’t let you forget it.

AKAs wear pink and green. It is the only time these colors match. Back in the day, these girls only accepted light skin, thin girls with long hair in their organization. At SSU, they contrast. AKA is primarily known as the “pretty sorority.” These forget how “good” they look, so they have to constantly look in the mirror. Get over yourself!

Omega Psi Phi are some nasty dogs, and they agree. The Que Dogs are known as the loud, rambunctious group on the yard. They rock purple and gold. Fatigue pants or hat commonly completes their look. If you are an attractive woman, be careful walking in front of this outgoing group. Before you know it you will be bit right on the cheek, and not the ones that get red when you blush. This fraternity gets away with acting like animals just because they are Ques. Gasps will usually fill a graduation ceremony if a Que is spotted walking across the stage.

The Nupes, or the Kappas are the “pretty boys.” These guys get made fun of because they are into their appearance just as much as the next girl. These guys are feminine, but don’t want you to confuse it with gay. All I have to say about that is, don’t be surprised if they ask to borrow your lip gloss.

The Deltas are the red and white sorority. They are a very popular sorority, especially on SSU campus until about a little over a year ago when some betrayal was investigated within their sorority. These are the tough girls. Deltas are rough girls. They are the loud and share some of the same qualities with the Ques, but are way more reserved. This sorority doesn’t hold their tongue for anyone.

Sigmas are looked at as generic versions of the Ques. They wear white and blue and hop just as much as the dogs do. They are most famous for their parties. Most people at SSU, associate with the Sigmas because they know they are way better elsewhere, as far as looks go. This fraternity is the only fraternity that constitutionally has sorors, or sisters.

My organization also wears blue and white. We are the sisters of the Sigmas. The Zetas is the smallest Divine Nine Greek organization on the SSU campus. Nationally, Zetas are as overweight girls whose most favorite activity includes stuffing their face. Yes, we do like to eat and that stereo type has never offended me because everybody does it. We are joke because we are not afraid to show that we like to eat? However, we are not just seen at the buffet, we attend almost every party, strolling and chanting trying to revamp our sorority on this campus.

Sigma Gamma Rhos is the last sorority founded in the Divine Nine. These poodles prance around in their blue and gold shaking their shoulders at a rapid pace, like they are freezing or something. It is called shimming. This group isn’t as large as the AKAs on the campus, but they do have more undergraduate members than the Zetas. When someone mentions the Rhos, people jokingly say “who?” They are last; they stole our colors, and our brothers’ name.

Lastly, there are the Iotas. This fraternity pretty much gets the same respect as the Rhos, none! They are the newest and the fewest. They wear brown and gold and normally walk around with their members to imitate a large group.

Not all stereotypes are true at every university, but at SSU this is how it is, and how it’s been for a long time.
