This season of Bachelor in Paradise has been pretty messy so far. From “the stupidest fight in history” to relationship speculation, BIP has had a lot up its sleeve. But in the most recent episode, viewers were caught off guard when Johnny DePhillipo of The Bachelorette season 19 gave up some pretty confidential information about his family life. During an emotional conversation with love interest Victoria Fuller in which the two were explaining their relationships with their family, DePhillipo revealed that he has a brother in prison. DePhillipo went on to explain that, “Paradise is coming to an end and I got to think about the future after this. I care for someone now, like I care for Victoria.” He continued, saying, “I kind of want her to know all of me.”
Though the rest of the episode didn’t go into detail, fans still seem curious about who DePhillipo’s brother is and why he was in prison, with one fan even tweeting about it.

On BIP, DePhillipo revealed that it was his older brother who is in prison; yet he has a huge family, seemingly filled with lots of brothers and step-brothers. Unfortunately it was hard to identify who his brother actually was and which one was in prison. But one brother in particular stood out. In a clip from Season 19 of The Bachelorette, DePhillipo introduces Gabby to his family and his brother Robert is in attendance. Could that be the brother in prison? No, probably not, since he’s not in prison.
However, as mentioned, Johnny has a lot of other brothers and step-brothers, all of whom have not had their names or prison status publicly released.

According to Distractify, a photo of DePhillipo with his brothers and step-brothers on Instagram does not show us said jail-brother, and a quick prison inmate search the site did revealed no results. However, the show was pre-recorded, so it’s possible that his brother was released from prison after filming wrapped and before Distractify did their search. Or, alternately he’s still in prison and they just didn’t search the right place. Or alternately, Johnny’s lying or something. It’s a regular Schrödinger’s Johnny’s Brother in Prison!
So far, that’s all we know about DePhillipo’s brother: that he is a brother who is in prison. But we will keep you updated should Johnny reveal more information on this season of Bachelor in Paradise. He definitely can’t reveal less.
