Where Is Farron Salley Now

WPBF-TV Channel 25 reporter and weekend anchor Farron Salley, arrested in December on a DUI charge in Palm Beach Gardens, has returned to work after the charge was dropped, she said this week on the station’s webpage.

“I’d like to take a quick break from our news coverage to share something very personal with you. This is my first day back to work since mid-December when I was arrested,” Salley wrote on Wednesday morning.

“I’d like to make it clear that I am innocent of this. A fair investigation lead (sic) to all charges against me being dropped,” she wrote. “I thank the men and women working hard to protect us all on the road. I regret my behavior and not showing them the respect they deserve the night I was pulled over.”

According to Palm Beach Gardens police and jail and court records, Salley, 28, was booked early on Dec. 15 at the Palm Beach County Jail. She was released hours later on her own recognizance, jail records show.

According to a Palm Beach Gardens Police report, at about 10:20 p.m. Dec. 14, Salley was driving on Alternate State Road A1A, north of PGA Boulevard, when she was stopped for a broken tail light. She told the officer she’d had one drink. She failed a field-sobriety test and at first agreed to a Breathalyzer test but then refused to follow instructions, the report said.

“Although there was probable cause to make an arrest, the evidence cannot prove all legally required elements,” The Palm Beach County State Attorney said in a Feb. 8 memo.

“To my WPBF family, that I call more than colleagues, but also my friends, I’m deeply sorry for the burden this has placed on you and I want to thank you for all you’ve done and the endless support you’ve given me along the way,” Salley wrote.

“We are pleased that Farron has worked through the legal process with her situation and we are happy to have her back on the air,” WPBF 25 President and General manager Caroline Taplett said in the online statement from Salley.

It doesn’t say the exact dates Salley was out or whether she was suspended or took a leave.

Taplett, who did not return calls to The Palm Beach Post at the time of Salley’s arrest, also did not return a call Friday. Salley’s lawyer, Michael Salnick, did not immediately return a call.
