SOUTHERN INDIANA — Friday was the deadline for candidates to file for office for the primary in Clark and Floyd counties.
Voter registration ends on April 8, and the primary election will take place on Tuesday, May 7.

Incumbent Zach Payne will face James E. Baker on the Republican ticket for the District 66 seat in the Indiana House, and Rick Cannon and Jennifer David have entered the Democratic race for the District 66 seat.
Incumbent Karen Engleman and John D. Colburn will appear on the Republican ticket for District 70 in the Indiana House.
Democratic incumbent Rita Fleming has filed for re-election as state representative for District 71. Republicans Scott Hawkins and James R. McClure Jr. have also filed for the District 71 seat.
Republican incumbent Ed Clere and Democrat Jason Applegate are seeking the District 72 seat in the Indiana House.
In Clark County, 11 Republicans are seeking the at-large seats on the county council, including David R. Abbott Sr., Chris Albertson, Ron Blevins Sr., Bradley S. Dunn, Chris Fox, Harold G. Goodlett, Donovan W. Harrod, Jacob Horton, John L. Miller III, Dale Sellers and Richard E. Snelling Jr.
Three Democrats are seeking the Clark County Council at-large seat, including James W. Brewer, Christina Gilkey and Donald Vogel.

Incumbent Connie L. Sellers is facing Donald E. Johnson on the Republican ticket for the District 1 Clark County Commissioners seat. Democrat Katie Morgan has also filed for District 1.
Republican incumbent Jack Coffman and Democrat Laura Mahan-Williamson are seeking the District 2 Clark County Commissioners seat.
Republican incumbent Nicholas Andrew Karaffa is seeking the Clark County Circuit Court No. 1 judge seat. Republican Lisa G. Reger and Democrat Dustin T. White are seeking the Clark County Circuit Court No. 4 judge seat.
Republican incumbent Abraham (Abe) Navarro filed for the Clark County Circuit Court No. 5 judge seat. Republican Kyle P. Williams and Democrat Andrea Wasson Stemle are seeking the Clark County Circuit Court No. 6 judge seat.
Aaron M. Scott and Jason (Dude) Brownfield Jr. are running for Clark County Coroner on the Republican ticket.
In Floyd County, Dale Bagshaw, Connie Moon, Matt Millies and Sam Sarkisian will appear on the Republican ticket for the at-large seats on the Floyd County Council.
Democrats Daniel T. Harris, Ellen Morrison Kelley and Brad Striegel have joined the Democratic race for the Floyd County Council at-large.
Incumbent John Schellenberger is facing challenger Frank Loop in the Republican race for the District 2 Floyd County Commissioner seat. Democrat Veronica M. Combs has also filed for the District 2 commissioner seat.

Republican incumbent Jason Sharp and Democrat Tim Harbison have entered the District 3 race for Floyd County Commissioner.
Incumbent Gregory W. Roution will face Matthew Tomlin in the Republican race for the Floyd County Coroner seat.
Republican incumbent Steve Burks and Democrat Vickie Tencer are running for the Floyd County Treasurer seat.
Republican Lois Naville Endris is seeking re-election as the Floyd County Recorder and Republican John G. Brinkworth III is seeking re-election as the county surveyor.
Jim Banks and John Rust will run on the Republican ticket for the U.S. Senate seat. Democrats Valerie McCray and Marc Carmichael have entered the Democratic race for the Senate seat.
Republican incumbent Erin Houchin and Republican challenger Hugh Doty are running for the 9th District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Timothy Peck and D. Liam Dorris are running on the Democratic ticket for the 9th District seat.
Six Republicans will appear on the ballot for the governor’s race, including Mike Braun, Brad Chambers, Suzanne Crouch, Eric Doden, Curtis Hill and Jamie Reitenour.
Democratic candidates for the governor’s race include Tamie Dixon-Tatum and Jennifer G. McCormick.
