A unique, heartfelt gift that will remind them of your love for years to come.
Craft Supplies:
- Cloth or Soft Leather Work Gloves
- Fabric Paint
- Paint Brush
- Paper Plate
- Baby Wipes
- Poem Printable – on our landing page
- White Cardstock Paper
Directions:
- First we are going to work on the gloves. Pull them out and lay them on a flat surface that can get messy.
- Squirt your fabric paint on a paper plate.
- Decide where you are going to place the handprints on the gloves. I did ours on the outside but you can also do the palms of the gloves instead. At this point in time, you should explain to your child what to do, where to place their hand etc. I found it’s easier to talk about it BEFORE you place the paint on their hand, versus that short period of time you have to work with while the paint is still wet on their palms. Fabric paint tends to dry faster when it hits the skin so you will need to work faster than normal.
- Now go ahead and one hand at a time, use a paint brush to paint it completely {whatever color you like} and press it flatly, on the surface of the work gloves.
- Before they lift up their hand, be sure to press it down gently {but firmly} and jiggle each finger so the paint really sticks to the gloves.
- Then, if you need too, use the same paint brush and a little remaining paint to fill in any missing spots that might have not filled in all the way.
- Repeat for the other glove but use the opposite hand.
- Use baby wipes and a quick trip to the sink to remove excess fabric paint from hands.
- Set aside and let your work gloves dry completely. This is where I suggest you print out our free printable to pass the time.
- So go ahead and click on the link listed above in the supply.
- Save the file to your computer.
- Now go find the file on your computer, right click it and print it in color, on a single sheet of white cardstock.
- Have children sign their name in the provided space and decorate the paper if they want to.
- When ready, pair the poem and decorated work gloves together & gift away proudly!
For the lucky receiver to enjoy their gloves for years to come – I highly recommend {if they need to} to HAND-WASH these in cold water.
