Where To Watch Club América Vs Columbus Crew

Back in Columbus for the second leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup Round of 16, all the Crew have to do to advance is keep Houston Dynamo FC from outscoring them.

What might sound like an obvious objective is necessary in this scenario because the Champions Cup has an aggregate score format. After winning their match in Houston 1-0, even a tie would on Tuesday would allow the Crew to move on to the quarterfinals.

Where things get murky is if Houston manages to score one more goal that Columbus on Tuesday.

If both teams finish regulation with the same number of goals across the two legs, the usual tiebreaker would also be neutralized, as they would have the same number of away goals. This would force extra time to be played in the second leg match, with the possibility of penalty kicks, to determine who advances.

Crew forward Alex Matan, who scored the only goal in the first leg during the final minute of stoppage time on Wednesday, has been ruled out for Tuesday’s game. This comes after being sidelined for Columbus’ MLS regular season match on Saturday with a thigh injury.
