Who Narrates Fanduel Commercials

DESPITE Rob Gronkowski’s failure to complete a field goal during a live commercial at 2023’s Super Bowl LVII, FanDuel is teaming up with Gronk once again.

Football icon Rob Gronkowski is taking viewers along his journey to redemption in three video ads ahead of yet another live commercial for FanDuel at this year’s Super Bowl LVIII.

What are Rob Gronkowski’s FanDuel Super Bowl 2024 commercials?

Sports betting company FanDuel has teamed up with former NFL player Rob Gronkowski for three iconic commercial ads ahead of football’s biggest night.

The three video spots are part of a campaign called Kick of Destiny 2, a sequel to the 2023 commercial titled Kick of Destiny.

In 2023, Rob Gronkowski tried – and failed – to complete a 25-yard field goal during a live third-quarter commercial at Super Bowl LVII.

If he was successful, football fans and betting enthusiasts who placed a bet on the Super Bowl through the FanDuel Sportsbook would have received a share of a $10 million prize.

Despite the loss, the marketing stunt managed to create “tremendous engagement” for FanDuel, according to FanDuel Executive Vice President of Marketing Andrew Sneyd.

This year, in 2024, Gronkowski is seeking redemption, by getting another chance at completing the field goal.

The three video spots, created by Wieden + Kennedy New York, show Rob Gronkowski – and a few special guest stars – as he tries to redeem himself from last year’s missed field goal kick.

The first commercial, titled Desert, shows Gronk stumbling through a sandy desert, wearing a tattered football uniform.

His hair and beard are both overgrown and unruly.

A flashback shows his missed field goal, which he says has “haunted” him ever since.

Suddenly, a mysterious figure approaches on a motorcycle, and Gronk narrates that he’s going to “a land of second chances, Vegas.”

Gronk gets into the motorcycle’s sidecar and drives off into the distance.

The second commercial spot, titled Again, kicks off in an office building with a team of executives sitting around a table.

“The first rule of marketing, is never do the same thing twice,” one of the executives states.

Gronkowski then burst through the office’s walls, and says he’s “gotta do the Kick of Destiny again.”

The commercial also features another guest star, who angrily reacts to Gronk “stealing” his chance in the spotlight.

He tells Gronkowski that he’s going to “miss” the kick, while Gronk responds, “No, I’m going to make,” referring to his upcoming field goal attempt.

The third commercial spot shows Gronkowski sitting alone in a locker room, consumed by thoughts of making – or missing – his upcoming field goal.

Gronkowski is then shown wandering through a jungle, emerging onto a makeshift football field with a goal post.

Around the world, viewers watch – at home, in bars, or on the go – commercials promoting Gronkowski’s second attempt at greatness.

A training montage follows, with Gronkowski ending the commercial spot by stating, “America picks. Gronk kicks.”

Who else stars in the Kick of Destiny 2 commercials?

For the second year in a row, FanDuel Sportsbook chose Rob Gronkowski to star in a series of commercials promoting their Kick of Destiny 2 campaign.

However, Gronk isn’t the only notable name in the teaser ads.

He’s also joined by a few special guests.

Appearing in Desert and the Kick of Destiny 2 trailer, Gronk is joined by American actor, director, and former football player, Carl Weathers.

Before starting his acting career in 1974, Weathers played for the Oakland Raiders in 1971, and later signed with the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League in 1971, playing with the team until 1973.

Weathers is perhaps best known for his role as Apollo Creed alongside Sylvester Stallone in the Rocky franchise.

In the 1982 film Rocky III, Weathers, playing Creed, trains Stallone, portraying Rocky, for the biggest fight of his life.

In the 2024 commercials, Weathers becomes Gronkowski’s trainer, motivating and inspiring him to “make” the infamous field goal.

Weathers isn’t the only guest star to appear in Gronk’s Super Bowl commercials.

American actor and professional wrestler John Cena also stars in the video spots, portraying Gronkowski’s arch nemesis.

Cena is perhaps best known for his WWE wrestling career, and for his roles in the Fast and Furious franchise, superhero drama The Suicide Squad, and the comedies Blockers and Trainwreck.

In the series of ads, its revealed that Cena was supposed to be the “star” of this year’s marketing initiatives and subsequent ad campaigns.

When Gronkowski returned for a second chance at redemption, Cena was sidelined.

He appears in the commercials taunting Gronk, telling him that he’ll “miss” the field goal.

Cena is also seen watching Gronk train for the kick from afar, even admitting that he “looks unstoppable” after some training.

Nonetheless, he is also seen holding a smartphone, open to the FanDuel Sportsbook Kick of Destiny 2 homepage.

Cena selects “Miss,” indicating that he thinks Gronk will not redeem himself at this year’s Super Bowl.
