It’s always a guy with a tool belt.
Kathy Sabine, the babilicious and popular KUSA-Ch. 9 weather-watcher, is engaged to Scott, a custom homebuilder who built her Douglas County pad.

Sabine told me they do not have a marriage date set yet. She asked that we not use Scott’s last name. He has two boys, she has a boy and a girl, both from previous marriages.
He proposed in the mountains – with a ring she’s sporting on air about the size of a lug nut.
“It was very elegant and sweet,” Sabine says. “And a big surprise.”
It has long been rumored that Sabine dated John Elway after their divorces, something Sabine has always denied and laughed at, insisting that she hardly knew the man.
I told Sabine that she was the town sweetheart and the news of her engagement would break many a Colorado heart.

No salute for Dad
Promoter Barry Fey announced Wednesday that he is canceling his Salute to Dad oldies concert skedded for June 18 at Invesco Field at Mile High.
The concert was to feature five acts for $3.50 – Little Anthony and the Imperials, the Temptations Revue, The Turtles, Three Dog Night and Beach Boy Al Jardine’s Endless Summer Band.
“It’s just a shame,” says Fey, who is suing oldies station KOOL 105, claiming they would not accept advertising for the show. A last- minute effort to organize a motorcycle ride with the show did not materialize.
“We just couldn’t reach our audience,” says Fey. “It was a great show at $3.50. It’s kind of heartbreaking, when you try to do something nice.”
As of Wednesday, the concert had sold only 13,300 tickets. Fey said he needed “a lot more than that” to make it viable.

Fey says refunds can be obtained at the point of purchase.
On the road again
Teri Toft, daughter of author Clive Cussler, says the VIP opening party of the Cussler Museum, featuring 37 of Cussler’s incredible vintage automobiles, has been reskedded – because I spilled the deets in this column and too many fans planned to show up. She also notes that Cussler is recovering from open-heart surgery and wants a mellow opening.
The museum will officially open to the public June 13 – and will be open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays through October. Adults $6, kids (under 12) $3. The museum is at 14959 W. 69th Ave. in Arvada, 303-420-2795.
Toft says she’s starting soft to gauge the interest in the museum. Next summer it may be open additional days. Check out some of the cars at cusslermuseum.com.
