Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009) is highly regarded as one of the most loved video games of all time.
For many, it revolutionised multiplayer first person shooter games, with a bunch of new features to keep gamers occupied.

The game was loved that much, publisher Activision decided to remake its campaign in 2020 – though the popular multiplayer mode remains abandoned.
One of the mysteries with the original Modern Warfare 2 was the cover art of the game.
A soldier is standing in a war-torn environment with a gun in hand, but this soldier is wearing a large piece of headgear, a mask covering its mouth, and goggles on its eyes.

As a result, it is near impossible to know who the soldier is, so for many years Call of Duty fans have speculated on who it could be.
Many fans tried to work out if it was a soldier from the campaign mode of Modern Warfare 2, like Captain Price or Soap MacTavish – but quickly found out it wasn’t.
Could it have even been a famous actor?
Well, according to CNBC, the top ten most successful actors of the year Modern Warfare 2 was released were Denzel Washington, Shia LaBeouf, Brad Pitt, Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Robert Downey Jr., George Clooney, Matt Damon, Johnny Depp and Sandra Bullock.
However, with the cover it is hard to match any of those actors with the soldier.
Another possibility was that it was just an actual soldier who has been in war, though that would be very hard to pinpoint considering the amount of war pictures out there.

Fans don’t have to guess anymore though, as the cover star for Modern Warfare 2 is in fact Mark Rubin, who used to be an executive producer on the franchise – I’m sure many fans didn’t predict that one.
Rubin, who is now in the same position at Ubisoft, revealed the news on Twitter, accompanying a picture of the much talked about cover with: “Little known fact, that is me on the cover”.
The game developer also confirmed he is the soldier on the cover of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, too.
But for Modern Warfare 3, Rubin said they went for a model instead, to which he joked: “I guess I was charging too much for my looks”.
The latest Call of Duty, which is titled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II – yes, a completely different game – released yesterday (28 October).
