Honestly you should not buy right now. I jumped from FIFA 22(PS4) to 23 (PS5) and it is shockingly worse. I’m not even talking overall which is what makes it so frustrating. Some aspects are far more sensible and contribute to a more balanced game. However, EA Sports manages to flush all that down the drain by tweaking basic fundamental aspects of the game and making them FAR more inconsistent/unreliable. Passing can be extremely frustrating and not because your opponent is good. Animations are slower, the passes themselves have less pace. Controls are FAR looser, less responsive, and the input delays have increased. Skill moves don’t work that well in a lot of context. Sometimes the player youre controlling gets animated into tackles even when the move and how you executed should’ve given you some space. First touches around the box are unbelievably slow and unresponsive at times with no clear contextual reason why. Defending can be extremely inconsistent. There are times when Neymar, Mbappe, and Messi make better tackles than van Dijk or Dias. They are times when your backline will literally watch players run through. Which I guess was also a problem in 22, but it just adds extra frustration because this is an easy fix. Offensive AI is equally incompetent. Unless you get good at triggering runs and support, I guarantee you the AI alone is enough to skip this game. It is also worse than 22. They will abandon runs midway for no reason and drop back when they should continue. You expect a 6’4” striker to finish a run in the box to receive a cross but a lot of times he will drop back to the edge of the box mid run.

This is the kind of game where you have to go to YouTube and learn how the Devs want you to play because a lot of the times, what makes sense..what should be an easy goal won’t work.

What’s most frustrating is that this game is just a few tweaks away from being the best FIFA I’ve ever played. That’s just how poorly they fumbled some of the most basic aspects of their game.

Game is a total sweat fest and I don’t mean that positively.
