As much as we wish there was one answer to this age old question, there’s not. Depending on where you shop and how the store is organized, tahini could be in a few places. Always head to the nut butter aisle first. As tahini becomes more mainstream, that scrumptious sesame butter has been making its way over to hang out with its cousins, peanut butter and almond butter. Make sure to look on the very top and very bottom shelves. It’s rare for tahini to be at eye level.
No luck in the nut butter aisle? Make your way over to the international section if your store still has one. With tahini’s popularity in the Mediterranean and Middle East, it’s often located with ingredients that also hail from those areas. (While you’re there, check out all of the other incredible ingredients. You’ll discover some amazing flavors that pair perfectly with tahini!)
