The contemporary Christian music singer was born Kari Brooke Jobe on April 6, 1981 in Waco, Texas, United States. She was raised by her parents. Mark and Caroline “Sandy” (née Bragg) Jobe in Watauga and later in Hurst, two towns in the state of Texas. Kari was born into a Christian home and gave her life to Christ at the age of 5.

She had started singing from the age of three and her Christian faith would come to influence her music. Kari sought from an early age to become a minister of the gospel. She also enrolled in both Christ for the Nations Institute and Dallas Baptist University where she earned a degree in pastoral studies and psychology.

In 2003, three years after the launch of Gateway Church, the music lovers of this church formed the music group Gateway Worship and Kari became one of the leaders of the group. Their first studio album, Unsearchable, was released in 2003, after which they released their first live album, Living for You, in 2006. After singing and co-writing songs with his wife, Cody launched a solo career in February 2017, signing a deal with Capitol CMG. He released “ The Cross Has The Last Word ” as his debut single. The couple attended the 2015 Dove Awards together and took to the red carpet to announce they were expecting their first baby. Their first son, Canyon Carnes, arrived on February 18, 2016. Kari said God gave her his son’s name even before the boy was born. She explained that Canyon means a deep ravine through which water flows and usually forms during storms.
In June 2018, Kari announced that she and her husband were expecting their second baby. For the announcement, Kari took to Instagram to post a photo of young Canyon with “BIG BROTHER” chalked on the sidewalk. Kari revealed in the post’s caption that the baby will arrive in February 2019.
