A professional cleaner has tried to avoid criticism over a particular detail in her latest TikTok cleaning video by addressing an issue head on.
Allison, who goes by the handle @allisonscleanin, has previously been slammed online for not wearing gloves while cleaning the toilet.

“Hold up! Before you get mad, even though there are people that are going to get mad, this toilet is clean and disinfected, then I go in with the pumice stone,” she said in the video.

“Most likely this toilet is cleaner than what you’re watching the video on – I mean when was the last time you cleaned your phone or computer?”
In the caption of the video she added that gloves aren’t necessarily sanitary because they need to be disinfected after use or in between cleaning different surfaces.
“I choose to just wash my hands all day [every] day! Also, don’t forget to clean your phone!”

Allison is right about phones technically being dirtier than the toilet, as a study from the University of Arizona found mobiles have 10 times more bacteria than most toilet seats.
And the irony is home toilets generally get cleaned once a week, while most people don’t think to clean their phone even occasionally.

The disclaimer at the start of Allison’s video seems to have helped mitigate criticism, because much of the conversation in the comments section was about the pumice stone or other products for cleaning the toilet bowl and how often people clean their phones.
“The person saying ‘eww’ is probably sitting on the toilet watching this [on their phone],” one viewer joked.

While gloves might not be necessary for cleaning, as long as you wash your hands afterwards, they can be worth considering to protect your skin and nails, especially if using a harsh cleaning product like bleach.
Gloves can also help stop skin from drying out and getting irritated from cleaning products and hot water, which is why they’re most commonly used for washing up.
