blackmyeyes-I think the song is along those lines too. I don’t understand the way other people are interpreting it. There is a huge amount of apathy in the lyrics. Here’s my reasoning:

He’s laid back about it, and he knows that she is just using him to lift her spirits. She doesn’t realize what she is doing and is confused about what she wants.

I heard it all before So don’t knock down my door -Again, this is a repeat pattern.
I’m a loser and a user so I don’t need no accuser to try and slag me down because I know I’m right -She is letting out her frustration on him. She’s probably mad that he is so laid back and not babying her. He’s not interested enough in her, isn’t giving her enough attention. Since he’s so laid back, he’s saying “whatever, you’re right.”
So go do what you like Make sure you do it wise -He’s telling her, in an apathetic way, to go and find the right person this time, that won’t hurt her.

You may find out that your self doubt means nothing was ever there -Since she keeps leaving him for other guys, she really doesn’t want him. If it’s that easy to leave him, then there is nothing meaningful between them.

That’s my interpretation. I may be biased, since I’ve been through the same thing for the past 10 years, although, sadly I feel that I may be the girl in this situation.
