House of Hope is an important part of Baldur’s Gate Main Story and Raphael’s house. It’s also the location where the devil keeps Orphic Hammer alongside other precious gear, consumables, and items. Location is a “must-visit at least once” for every BG3 player, it undoubtedly adds value to the story and game’s experience. The House of Hope can’t be found on the city map, making the location extremely hard to find, so here is how to enter it through the portal and solve the puzzle.

Where is the House of Hope (Devil’s Fee) in Baldur’s Gate?
The portal to the House of Hope is in the Devil’s Fee Building in the north-central Baldur’s Gate City in Act 3. To get there, head northwest from Basilisk Gate, where you enter the Baldurs Gate city for the first time. Alternatively, if you have already discovered Lower City Central Wall’s fast-travel waypoint, teleport there and go straight to the north to find the Devil’s Fee and inactive portal to the House of Hope on the top level of the house.
In Devil’s Fee, Helsik runs an ordinary shop, but only on the surface. If you step foot on the top level, you will find trap symbols written with blood and many unsettling objects.

Speak with Helsik. Depending on your choices and journal, she may already know you and offer you a pass to the House of Hope. However, if you don’t see this option, head upstairs. On top of the stairs is a hidden trap, so you must place water or wine on it to disarm it. If you don’t do it, it’ll hit you with a fireball, dealing significant damage each time you touch the top of the stairs.
In the room upstairs, find the book about the “Infernal Transposition Ritual” on the desk and read it. Then, come back to her, and the option to ask about Hause of Hope should now be available. She will explain the ritual and how to open the portal to the House of Hope under a condition. You must choose one of the following options:
- Pay her 20,000 gold (10,000 gold if you pass a persuasion check)
- Agree to bring back the Gauntlets of Hill Giant Strength from the House.
- You can pickpocket the bag and note from Helsik.
The price is expensive, so we advise you to promise her to bring the Gauntlets of Hill Giant Strenght. Again, depending on your choices in the House of Hope, you can kill her or return the item to her. If you give Helsik the Gauntlets of Hill Giant Strength, she will add them to her stock for 1620 gold. As a result, you can buy them from her later for a much lower price.
Next, she will give you a bag of ritual items and a note on performing the ritual. If you steal the items and you return, she will still be willing to trade with you. However, she will acknowledge that you stole those items from her.
Enter House Of Hope Portal – Solve the Puzzle

On the top floor, you will find a ritual circle painted in blood. To open the portal to the House of Hope, you must place items from the small bag in the correct spots on the ritual circle. Put the Infernal Marble in the center of the Star. Next, it doesn’t matter what order you place them on the floor. However, for simplicity, let’s start with the star point, which looks like a triangle pointing to the desk, and go clockwise (Check the image below for reference).
- Infernal Marble: In the center
- Skull: Place it on the star point, looking like a triangle pointing directly to the desk
- Coin of Mammon: Put in on the next star point
- Skip next spot
- Diamond: Place it on the third spot
- Incense: Put it on the following star point, next to the door to the balcony.
- The last two spots should be empty.
If you placed the items correctly, the black portal in the center should appear, and you can now enter the House of Hope.
