When Will The Next Jjk Episode Come Out

Jujutsu Kaisen spoilers follow.

Jujutsu Kaisen grabbed a lot of headlines in 2023. The blockbuster show’s second season was an absolute rollercoaster of action, gore and more shocking twists than most anime shows manage in their entire runs.

It wasn’t all good, though, as behind-the-scenes issues plagued the show’s production and caused harm and stress to the creative minds creating one of the most beloved anime franchises of the 21st century.

Despite these problems, the animators behind Jujutsu Kaisen season two’s explosive Shibuya Incident arc delivered exceptional fight scenes, jaw-dropping moments, and major cliffhangers every week.

So the question remains: How do you follow up on that?

Luckily for fans, Jujutsu Kaisen season three was officially confirmed after the season two finale. So, let’s take a look at what might be coming next.

Jujutsu Kaisen season three was confirmed via a small teaser after the second season finale aired. The teaser also confirmed the story will continue by adapting the manga’s Culling Game arc, but no news of a release date or window has been given yet.

There were a little over two years between the end of season one (March 2021) and the beginning of season two (July 2023), so, at the very least, we’d be surprised to see Jujutsu Kaisen return any earlier than 2025.

In between season one and season two, though, we did get Jujutsu Kaisen 0, the prequel film, so perhaps we’ll see Yuji and co back on the big screen before then.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s cast will likely stay mostly the same when it returns for a third season, although there will be some noticeable differences.

We can assume that Gojo will not be heavily featured, for instance, since he’s still very much trapped in the prison realm. We also don’t necessarily know the state we’ll find Kugisaki in, after her run-in with Mahito.

And, of course, we said goodbye to several supporting cast members during the Shibuya Incident – the biggest tragedy being the death of Kento Nanami, aka the internet’s husband and all-round gallant good guy.

With that in mind, here’s who we’re expecting to see back for Jujutsu Kaisen season 3:

  • Yuji Itadori – Junya Enoki (Japanese); Adam McArthur (English)
  • Yuta Okkotsu – Megumi Ogata (Japanese); Kayleigh McKee (English)
  • Megumi Fushiguro – Yuma Uchida (Japanese); Robbie Daymond (English)
  • Nobara Kugisaki – Asami Seto (Japanese); Anne Yatco (English)
  • Maki Zen’in – Mikako Komatsu (Japanese); Allegra Clark (English)
  • Toge Inumaki – Kōki Uchiyama (Japanese); Xander Mobus (English)
  • Panda – Tomokazu Seki (Japanese); Matthew David Rudd (English)
  • Satoru Gojo – Yūichi Nakamura (Japanese); Kaiji Tang (English)
  • Kiyotaka Ijichi – Mitsuo Iwata (Japanese); Chris Tergliafera (English)
  • Shoko Ieiri – Aya Endō (Japanese); Ryan Bartley (English)

Jujutsu Kaisen season three’s short teaser trailer confirmed that the next story to be adapted will be the Culling Game Arc.

Without spoiling too much for anime-only fans, the story deals with the immediate aftermath of the Shibuya Incident and will focus heavily on Yuta Okkotsu. Viewers saw Okkotsu return in a badass scene in the final moments of the season two finale, where we also found out he’ll be heading up the charge to execute Yuji for his supposed crimes.

Yuta made his first appearance on screen in Jujutsu Kaisen 0, set before the events of Jujutsu Kaisen season one. As he was the main character in the prequel movie, fans got more than just a taste of the depth of his powers as well as his backstory.

Basically, if you haven’t caught up on Jujutsu Kaisen 0 then the hiatus between seasons two and three might be a good time to do so. You can watch the movie dubbed and subbed on Crunchyroll.

A quick text crawl, made up of five key statements, at the end of the season two finale also gave us some insight into what to expect from season three. Those statements were as follows:

1) “Suguru Geto’s survival was confirmed. We hereby declare the reinstatement of his death sentence.”

2) “Satoru Gojo has been deemed an accomplice in the Shibuya Incident and ie hereby expelled from jujutsu society. In addition, any attempt to free him from his seal will be deemed a crime.”

3) “Masamichi Yaga is sentenced to death for inciting Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto, causing the Shibuya Incident.”

4) “The suspension on Yuji Itadori’s death sentence is hereby revoked, and his execution shall be carried out promptly.”

5) Special-grade sorcerer Yuta Okkotsu shall be appointed as Yuji Itadori’s executioner.

Yuta Okkotsu voice actor Kayleigh McKee has spoken about what fans of the show can expect, as Yuta takes on a bigger role in the next season. She said she’s been preparing “for a long time” to portray this version of her character, after that initial introduction in the film.

She told GamesRant: “He has matured way more, as a person, because he loves himself now. That allows him to be confident and more caring of other people.

“I’ve been prepping a voice for this version of Yuta for a while. And I was so happy with how it turned out. I feel like he’s really found his stride.”

As for what could be next for Yuta in the Culling Game Arc, McKee issued a warning to fans, saying: “Don’t be too scared.”

“When things are looking harrowing, you don’t have to run angry to social media immediately,” she added.

Jujutsu Kaisen season three, if it happens, is a long way off. That means we won’t get a full trailer for quite some time. For now, there is just the very short teaser trailer mentioned earlier to salivate over. It is all in Japanese so some may need to have that Google Translate to hand.

The show’s second season released its first trailer roughly three months before it started, and we’d expect a similar lead time ahead of the third.

Jujutsu Kaisen is available to watch on Crunchyroll.
