Who is Joe Madison’s wife, Sherry?

Talk show host Joe Madison married Sherry in 1978.

According to a Facebook post by Joe, Sherry Madison is an Executive Producer at Howard Theatre Restoration – an organisation that promotes STEM courses for youth and adults in the community.

Sherry, along with her kids, shared the heavy news of Joe’s death in a family statement.

The statement read: “It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, Joe Madison.

“Joe dedicated his life fighting for all those who are undervalued, underestimated, and marginalized.

“Although he is no longer with us we hope you will join us in answering that call by continuing to be proactive in the fight against injustice.”

Madison’s family said he died peacefully at home surrounded by his family.

They went on to ask for privacy as they grieve the loss of their husband and father.

Who was Joe Madison?

Joe Madison was a talk show host born on June 16, 1949, in Dayton, Ohio.

He received his sociology degree from Washington University in St. Louis.

As per his website, Joe “became the youngest executive director of the NAACP’s Detroit branch” at just 24 years old.

At the NAACP, Joe eventually became a member of the National Board of Directors.

After 14 years with the NAACP, Joe went on to begin his radio career at Detroit’s WXYZ.

In 2008, Joe joined SiriusXM where he became the host of the famous show The Black Eagle.

He was a legendary voice in radio who championed human and civil rights.

On his show, he would demand action against injustice, asking viewers: “What are we going to do about it?”

In 2021, he went on a 73-day hunger strike to encourage passage of voting rights bills.”

He revealed he was fighting prostate cancer at the time and when asked if he understood the danger he was in, he replied: “I am willing to die.”

The broadcasting hero went on leave from his radio show in December as he was battling prostate cancer, which he was diagnosed with in 2009.

He was very open about his cancer in hopes of encouraging more men to prioritize their health.

The cancer went into remission but in early 2023 it resurfaced.

On January 31, Joe passed away aged 74.

Madison’s family shared the news in a statement on Thursday, with President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris paying tribute soon after.

President Joe Biden shared his condolences for Madison on X, formerly Twitter.

“Joe Madison was the voice of a generation,” he wrote.

“Whether it was a hunger strike for voting rights or his advocacy for anti-lynching legislation that I was proud to sign in 2022, Joe fought hard against injustice. Jill’s and my thoughts are with his wife, Sherry, and the entire family.”

Vice President Kamala Harris paid a touching tribute to the late radio star saying: “Joe Madison aligned his platform with his purpose.

“Through his decades-long career in radio, he championed the fight for equity and justice. Our nation is better because of his voice.

“Doug and I send our prayers to his wife Sherry, their children, and all those who loved him. As we continue to look at America’s most challenging issues, we will ask ourselves Joe’s question: ‘What are you going to do about it?'”

Joe Madison shared four children with his wife Sherry.

Their names are Michelle, Shawna, Jason, and Monesha.
