Xander’s life right now is a bit of a mixed bag on Days of Our Lives. There’s some good, some bad and some what just happened?! He just learned that he’s the father of Sarah’s baby — but that means she’s been lying to him for nine months. And his bride-to-be was the one who told him, opting for honesty and transparency in an incredibly matures, selfless moment — but that’s probably going to cost their relationship.

And then there’s Victor’s death. The late Kiriakis patriarch didn’t leave a thing to most of his family, with half his fortune going to his beloved Maggie and the other half going to his secret son, Alex. Xander’s not seeing a dime, not that he really expected much else! But the fans did. And the good news for Xander is, they still do!

Maggie and Justin, of course, read Angelica’s letter to Victor and learned the truth about Alex. He’s Victor’s son, not Justin’s and he’s the lost heir. Victor wanted to leave half his legacy to Alex to make up for a lifetime of denying his birthright. Days of Our Lives shared a preview over the weekend and it certainly got the fans talking, especially with the tease of Wally Kurth’s emotional performance as Justin tells Alex he’s not his son.

“Omg I’m bawling,” Divabritbrat wrote. “Wally Kurth is such a great actor. He needs more airtime!”

But there are also a whole lot folks who just aren’t having the reveal. So over on our Soaps.com Facebook page we asked viewers whether they were surprised by the Alex revelation and who they had hoped would be Victor’s son. And there was one name that came up over and over again: Xander!

We speculated that Theresa may have doctored the letter somehow and changed it from Xander to Alex, and it turns out, there’s a whole lot of viewers who are also in Xander’s corner!

After all, we never met Xander’s mother. We don’t know who she is, other than that her last name was supposedly Cook. Literally everything in Victor’s will and Angelica’s letter could have just as easily applied to him as Alex. Well, other than the Angelica part, that is. Or… not?

Debbie Bishop responded on Facebook that, “It should be Xander. It could be that Angelica is his mother.”

And Rob Lewis threw an interesting suggestion out there that “either Xander is Victor’s son or it’ll turn out that Xander and Alex are twins.” That would be a heck of a coincidence since they’re both named Alexander! Though we don’t know that the show would go that far with the characters’ age difference, you never know in a town like Salem!

Lauri Lammers, on the other hand, “Thought it would be Justin, but I now think it’s Xander.”

And that, it seems, is what a whole heck of a lot of fans think!

Whether or not any of this turns out to be a hoax or misdirection of some kind, maybe poor Xander can at least take comfort in the fact that a good chunk of the viewers are in his corner. And when it comes to the soap opera world, there’s no sweeter place to be! Maybe someday things really will work out for that loveable scallywag after all.
