SAFETY
As you know, the safety of our patients and team members is our top priority at Dr. Phyllis Cook Periodontics and Dental Implants. We have long believed that impeccable infection control practices during dental procedures, and high levels of cleanliness throughout our office, are of the utmost importance. Common safety practices you are used to seeing during your visits with us include: • Use of sterile surgical gloves, sterile drapes, disposable gowns, surgical masks, and shields during dental procedures. • Thorough cleaning of surfaces in patient rooms with disinfecting wipes that kills viruses and bacteria. • Frequent disinfection of commonly touched surfaces (front desk, pens, reception room seating). • Readily available hand sanitizer and anti-bacterial soap throughout the office for patient and team use.

In response to the Coronavirus outbreak and COVID-19, we have recently implemented additional infection control practices and office policies in order to keep our patients and team members healthy and safe. Some of our new practices and updates include:
• All people ( team members, patients) entering the office will have their temperatures taken, plus prescreening for any potential symptoms of Cornavirus. All members of our team will wear masks in all areas of the office.
• All surfaces in the reception area, including chairs, counters, etc., will be wiped down after every patient.

• All patients will be pre-screened on the telephone when their appointments are confirmed. Any patient with a fever, or who has been exposed in the past three weeks to anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19, will be rescheduled for a later date.
• Questions regarding insurance coverage, timing of follow-up appointments, or other concerns will be answered on the telephone prior to the appointment, so as to minimize patients having to stop at the front desk. • Follow-up appointments will be scheduled on in the operatory before you leave it or later on the telephone. • All patients will be asked to fill out the necessary paperwork online, prior to their scheduled appointment. If a patient does not fill out their paperwork in advance, they will be given the paperwork in the lobby of the office and asked to fill it out in their car.
• All patient’s temperature will be taken, and patient history will be reviewed. Any patient with a fever, or the history mentioned previously, will be rescheduled for a later date, without having entered the office.
• Spouses, friends, and those accompanying patients to their appointments will be asked to remain in their cars, unless the patient is a minor.
• Patients will be brought to the treatment rooms as expeditiously as possible to avoid any gatherings in the reception area.

• Payments for treatment will be made either by providing your credit card information to our team over the telephone, scanning your credit card at our front desk in a touchless procedure, using a pre written check. Our goal is to reduce as much as possible the time you need to spend at the front desk or in the reception area.
We are also installing state of the art equipment to improve upon our industry-standard level of sterilization practices with UV light.
