Finding beach hotels with heated pools is definitely the main request from many of you. The list belong, along with this other list of beach hotels will hopefully be a good starting point. I have updated it with some more hotels for 2018.
The criteria for beach hotels with heated pools
- hotel with heated pool (to 28 degrees or above) this can be either indoor or outdoor, it might be that there are limited swimming times for children
- walking distance or short drive to beach
- ideally no more than an hour from the airport
I searched for some time and have found several beach hotels with heated pools that match most of the criteria. The walking distance to beach and village in particular is a tricky one as small independent hotels with heated pools need space so are often well hidden in the countryside.

We just came back from the Costa Brava two weeks ago and I can vouch for its beautiful coast and calas (coves). At that time of the year, it should be great as not as crowded as when we were there.
This hotel has both an outdoor pool and one heated pool in the spa and is right on the beach. In September you could indulge with a spa quadruple which has its own terrace and a separate area with a sofabed. Some rooms are prettier than others.

We stayed there in 2015 and I’ll write a review soon! It is a really fab hotel with an outdoor and indoor heated pool, amazing service and 10 min drive to the beach. They were really very nice to families with children, be they babies or older ones.

There are two pools: a tree encircled pool with wooden decking and rocky path down to the sea and a heated pool. Some rooms also have hot tubs. Cots for under-three are free; extra beds cost €50 for under-nines and €80 for under-12s. Ask three days in advance and a nanny can babysit for €15 an hour.
Capo la Gala is a 40-minute drive from Naples, and 20 minutes by car from both Pompei and Sorrento. There’s free parking as well.

It’s more of a B&B than a hotel but it has the benefit of having two pools (one heated indoor and one outdoors) as well as farm animals (donkeys, ponies, horses, chickens and goats) ! Wonderful for little ones. The indoor heated one has a wide shallow shelf for non-swimmers and toddlers to play safely on; the outdoor unheated one has a parapet surrounding it and a shallow end under the trees. Meals are on request but are said to be delicious.

There is everything to relax and to enjoy the perfect family holiday. First of all, you are just close to the beach! No need to take a car, you just walk out of the hotel and you’re there! Then the two pools will ensure that you can swim in warm waters if the sea is too cold. One of them is heated. And there are plenty of lounge chairs around.

You can’t be closer to the beach than this! Part of the Costes group (which has trendy restaurants in Paris ), this new hotel is just on the doorstep of Camargue, at 5 minutes away from the Montpellier airport and the new TGV train station. For those who like swimming there is a beautiful 27-meter long heated swimming pool, and just in front, the gorgeous beach wih its very chic white chairs and umbrellas.

This modern hotel is right on the lake of Hossegor, which means beautiful views at any time of the day. They also have a spa with hammam, steam room, ice fountain and a heated pool outside. The walk to the wide beaches of Hossegor is about 12 minutes, I tested it!

Near Montpellier, a lovely town in France, where the weather should be really nice at the end of September. There is an outdoor pool encircled by lush lawns, pine and palm trees, and lots of vines and a heated indoor hydrotherapy pool in the spa. The beaches (public or private, i.e. with lounge beds that you pay for) are less than 15 minutes away.
Heads up that it’s €20 a day to use the spa, unless you’re staying in a Junior Suite or have a treatment booked. Cots are provided free of charge; extra beds are €65. The restaurant has a children’s menu, and breakfast is included for under-12s. A local babysitter can be arranged.

The darling of interior design magazines since it opened in 2017, this hotel has been renovated by the Festen architecture team, who were behind the Pigalle hotel in Paris. Three bars, two restaurants, an open-air cinema and many other activities can keep you occupied if swimming is not enough.

It’s a 5 stars hotel but they have deals via the Design Hotels website. The heated pool is “200 square m2” (which seems massive to me, I suppose it’s a typo) and of course the rooms are quite spacious.

Corsica is just beautiful, one of the most beautiful islands in the world and the weather in September is fab! Some of the decoration in this hotel is a bit on the rustic side but the situation and the gardens and the terraced outdoor heated pool are just amazing. Plus you are a short stroll or shuttle drive to the beautiful beach of Palombaggia.

All 65 rooms have been designed to sleep two adults and a child, plus there are bigger suites for larger families. Many will have shared or private pools and of course there is a large pool for all. Their size is really comfortable with a minimum of 30 square meters for the cheapest category.

You can’t make closer to the beach than this. Overlooking the beach of Praia da Rocha, not far from Lagos, Bela Vista was converted from a private house in 1937 and retain some of that old world charm. Most of the rooms have a nice view of the ocean, some with private balconies. The L’Occitane spa has an indoor pool and there is also an outdoor one.

I wrote before about this beautiful hotel which has grown in popularity and in space since then. Beautiful design in the middle of the pine forests, not far from the beaches, and with both indoor heated pool and outdoor pool. They have also added some villas recently.

This resort is 2 minutes walk from the beach and is a luxury option with boutique-style rooms and villas with private balconies and terraces. The resort has 5 swimming pools in total. The main pool is set on astylish wooden terrace. It overlooks the Beach Club Garden and has its own bar. Beware that the only rooms where you can add a bed are the double bedrooms with sea views.
Borgo Egnazia, Italy

Inspired by the traditional architecture from Puglia and arabic palaces, Borgo Egnazia Hotel opened a few years ago to offer stylish holidays to families. You can rent a villa or a bedroom. Make sure to check the villa description as some are smaller than it might seem. Once there, you’ll have 4 swimming pools, a 1800-m² wellness centre and won’t be far from a golf. You can also go to their private beach club in Savelletri, 0.9 miles away.
Finally…
I also found Eagles Palace* in Greece: They have a limited September offer where they offer 20% off plus half board upgrade. Not my usual choice as big hotel but the prices are good and it’s right on the beach. There’s also a heated pool.
