Where Is Gator Bowl

The turf crew at EverBank Stadium put the final touches on the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl logo at midfield Thursday, the day before the University of Kentucky takes on the Clemson Tigers.

The 79th TaxSlayer Gator Bowl on Friday (Noon, ESPN) between Clemson and Kentucky will be the beginning of a weekend of activities in Jacksonville that culminates in a New Year’s Eve with the Jacksonville Jaguars playing the Carolina Panthers and the traditional midnight fireworks over the St. Johns River to ring in 2024.

With the early kickoff of the Gator Bowl, the EverBank Stadium parking lots will open at 7 a.m. The box office for walk-up ticket sales, between Gates 2 and 3, will be open at 9 a.m. and the stadium gates will open at 10 a.m. Tickets are also still available at taxslayergatorbowl.com.

All parking for stadium lots and ticketing is mobile. Fans are asked to have their parking passes and tickets downloaded and ready to be scanned upon entry to the lots and into the stadium.

Fans also have the option of JTA’s Game Day Express, from two remote sites: the Kings Avenue Parking Garage at 1201 Kings Avenue ($10 round-trip), and the JTB Park-n-ride at 7000 Philips Highway ($15 round trip). Service will begin at 10 a.m. and end one hour after the game.

The pregame show will be a tribute to “Pride In Service,” presented by CSX. It will include the bands from both schools and Chick-fil-A Hometown Hero Steve Krist and his service dog Mack.

The National Anthem will be performed by Marvin Zapf, colors will be presented by the Jacksonville Recruiting Battalion and the honorary Captain is Chief Damage Controlman Robert Gaynor.

Other reminders for fans on game day:

  • Clear bag policy: The NFL’s clear bag policy is in effect at EverBank Stadium. Fans are encouraged to leave all bags at home but if one is necessary, it should be either a clear bag no larger than 12” x 6” x 12” or a non-clear bag no larger than 4.5” x 6.5.” Non-clear belt bags and fanny packs are prohibited.
  • Hydrate: Fans are permitted to bring one, commercially branded, factory-sealed, plastic bottle that is 16.9 oz. or less. A Cooling Bus will be available at Ramp 4 and Ramp 2 with water coolers nearby.
  • Cashless Transactions: Cash is no longer accepted anywhere in the stadium. In addition to traditional scan and chip options, all fixed points of sale will offer tap or scan payment options including JagsPay, Apple, Google and Samsung Pay.
  • Tobacco-free: EverBank Stadium is a tobacco-free facility. All tobacco products (including e-cigarettes) are prohibited. No guest re-entry will be permitted.

Chief Ellis Burns of the Jacksonville Sherrif’s Office also stressed to First Coast residents that unlike the Florida-Georgia game or Jaguars games, many of the fans coming to the Gator Bowl will be unfamiliar with the streets or traffic patterns, and asked for patience.

“A lot of them are visitors,” Burns said. “Please be patient if someone pulls up and asks for directions and we’re helping them find where they need to go.”
