Tulsa city officials are working to avoid a possible gas shortage after stations were damaged or lost power during the recent round of severe storms.

Tulsa was among one of the hardest-hit areas when the storms hit the Sooner State over the weekend. Various places around the city in northeastern Oklahoma had downed power lines and trees that caused power outages.

As of 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, more than 150,000 Oklahomans are still without power. More than 120,000 customers don’t have power in Tulsa County.
“We’re in contact today with teams from both Holly and Magellan to find out what we can do to support getting their operations up and running,” Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum said Monday. “They are working with PSO and DEQ to get everything back up and running.”

Bynum went on to say that services so far have not been impacted by a lack of gas, but it is a growing concern over the next few days.

Tulsa-area television station Fox 23 reports that several gas stations have been closed because of the recent power outages, making finding gas difficult. Some are still open, but trying to get to the pump requires sitting in standstill traffic.
