On November 26, fans noticed that Cris Collinsworth was missing from NFL Sunday Night Football.

Viewers were ultimately confused, but a reason for his absence was later provided.

NBC said that Collinsworth was missing from the show because he took some time off to be with his family for Thanksgiving.

Former football coach Jason Garrett took his place.

Collinsworth has been a regular face on the Sunday night broadcasts since the late 2000s.

The 2023 season marked his 15th with the NBC program, which set a record for the most seasons by an analyst on the NFL’s broadcast primetime package, according to his NBC biography.

The extent of Collinsworth’s career earned him a spot in the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame’s Class of 2023.

When Collinsworth is not in the studio commentating football games, he can often be found at home, spending time with his family.

Since 1989, he has been married to Holly Bankemper.

The pair met through friends while she was a cheerleader for the University of Kentucky and went on to attend law school together at the University of Cincinnati.

“She’s great,” Collinsworth said of his wife during a 2001 interview with Cincinnati Magazine.

“I have a really strong wife. It’s amazing all that she can handle, particularly with as much as I’m away from home.”

Since tying the knot, Collinsworth and Bankemper have welcomed four children, Ashley, Austin, Jac, and Katie.

When was Cris Collinsworth in the NFL?

Collinsworth made a name for himself in the football world as an All-American wide receiver at the University of Florida.

He went on to join the NFL in 1981 after he was drafted 37th overall by the Cincinnati Bengals.

Collinsworth spent eight seasons in the league – all with the Bengals – and made two Super Bowl appearances before retiring in 1988.
