Can I move our Elf on the Shelf? Let’s face it, with some of the brilliant Elf on the Shelf ideas floating around out there, sometimes your Elf can wind up in a poor place. Take this one for example, it’s from my all NEW 35 Elf on the Shelf Ideas (each with a Dollar Tree prop) post:

It was super fun and the kids went crazy over it…but…we still need to be able to use the potty the rest of the day! So, as my husband and I got to talking, we knew we had to come up with some way to “legally” move him as needed.
Technically: no. Or you risk him losing his “magic.” So, we figured if we could create a barrier between our Elf and our skin, then his magic would be preserved 😉
From that, the Magic Elf on the Shelf Moving Glove was born. I grabbed a couple of items from the Dollar Tree and had it done in about five minutes! Here is what we used:
How to make the Elf Moving Glove:
I thought it was SO funny that the gloves are ACTUALLY called “Magic” gloves (can you see it on the tag?). It’s like it was meant to be! 😉
I only needed one of the four gloves that came in the set, so I pulled it out along with a piece of white felt:
Then I cut out a zig zag pattern to match the Elf on the Shelf’s collar and hot glued it in place. I then added a little string embellishment.
TIP: Don’t run the decorations all of the way around the glove. By keeping it on the front side only you can still put the glove on. Here is what each side looked like when I was done (seriously, it only took 5 minutes!):
Now all we need is some packaging to really make it look real! “Magic Elf Moving Glove: Extra thick construction guarantees no magic lost!”
Note: There is a rule as to who can use the Magic Elf on the Shelf moving glove. Here is what the back says:
Once in awhile I may end up in a place that I need to be moved from, So I’m giving you these magic gloves so that you can nudge me some. One rule: They may only be worn by the tallest person in your family, And when they’re used, please move me close to the Christmas tree! I’m really excited for all of the fun things that I have planned, And thank you in advance for giving me a helping hand!
You can print it, cut it out and then fold it in half. Stick the glove in a quart size baggie, add this to the top and you’re in business!
