You may not know her by name, but chances are good you recognize Jamie Simpson’s face.
The 25-year-old Atlanta resident is the television spokeswoman for both Rug & Home in Gaffney and McKinney Dodge in Easley, and her Rug & Home ads alone show dozens of times each week in the Upstate market.

Considering how well recognized she is, Simpson is surprisingly offhanded when asked how she broke into the business.
“I guess it started with an audition,” she said.
“It’s just something that I kind of fell into.”
Simpson, who grew up south of Greenville in Moonville, had her first big break about five years ago, when she was in a national Coca-Cola commercial filmed in Charlotte, N.C. That led to other auditions and other jobs.

“You get one part and get another one and get another one, and you get the bug.”
Now, when she’s not filming ads for Rug & Home or McKinney Dodge, Simpson does modeling, and she is also a licensed cosmetologist who does professional hair and makeup work. She is a hair and makeup host for the TBS “Movie and a Makeover” show, where she does on-camera themed makeovers. And last year she went on tour nationwide for nine months as the personal hair and makeup artist for pop/rock musician Aslyn.
“It’s enough to keep me crazy and busy. There’s no such thing as a normal day.”
As the youngest of five children, Simpson said she was used to being the center of attention, and she has many memories of singing with her family at reunions and gatherings.
She loved singing so much that she started competing in pageants because they offered her a chance to perform.
When she won her high school pageant, Miss Woodmont, one of the prizes was a scholarship for modeling classes at Millie Lewis.

“Who knew I would be investing in my future by being Miss Woodmont?” Simpson joked.
After attending Clemson University, then beauty school, Simpson moved to Atlanta to take acting classes. Then she moved to Los Angeles for a time she describes as “a very, very big learning experience that didn’t turn out too positive” before moving back to Atlanta.
Simpson works with Elite Model Management in Atlanta, and in addition to her television work she also does parts modeling (modeling her hands and feet) and “petites” modeling.
She also has her own company, Jamie Simpson Marketing, which provides marketing consulting, television production and media buying for automotive dealers.
When Simpson comes home to visit the Upstate, she said people often recognize her face, though she says her local fame is really a mystery to her.
“I’m dying to see why in the world people are so interested,” she said.
