SPY x FAMILY spoilers follow.
SPY x FAMILY season one was released in two halves across 2022 and became a global sensation thanks to its absurd mix of found-family and 1960s screwball spy comedy.

Its unique stylings secured it a spot on our top anime of 2022 list, but we were all left wanting when the season-one finale aired on Christmas Eve.
Luckily season two arrived in October 2023, and we also found out we’re getting a SPY x FAMILY movie. Here’s everything you need to know about both.
SPY x FAMILY season two officially returned on October 7 (11pm JST), and is available on anime streaming service Crunchyroll shortly after it airs in Japan.
In addition to the original Japanese version with subtitles, SPY x FAMILY season two is also being dubbed in English, Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, German, French, Italian, Castilian Spanish, Russian and Arabic.
But that’s not all the Forger action we’re getting in 2023, with spin-off movie CODE: White set to release in Japanese cinemas on December 22.
Luckily for fans outside of Japan, Crunchyroll also recently confirmed it will be distributing the movie in other territories in 2024:
“Crunchyroll is happy to announce today Loid, Yor, Anya and Bond are arriving at a theater near you next year! In collaboration with Sony Pictures Entertainment, SPY x FAMILY CODE: White will release in North America, Latin America, Australia/New Zeleand and select countries in Europe (Austria, Benelux, France, Germany, Italy, the Nordics, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland). The film will be available in Japanese with English subtitles and dubbed in English.”
The service also provided a brief synopsis of the movie in its announcement, saying:
“While under the guise of taking his family on a weekend winter getaway, Loid’s attempt to make progress on his current mission Operation Strix proves difficult when Anya mistakenly gets involved and triggers events that threaten world peace!”
SPY x FAMILY season two features much of the same impressive voice cast as the first, with talented English and Japanese actors bringing the host of loveable characters to life. The show also continues to be a co-production between WIT Studios and CloverWorks (a seriously impressive collaboration).

• Loid Forger – Takuya Eguchi (Japanese) / Alex Organ (English) • Anya Forger – Atsumi Tanezaki (Japanese) / Megan Shipman (English)• Yor Forger – Saori Hayami (Japanese) / Natalie Van Sistine (English)• Emile Elman – Hana Sato (Japanese) / Macy Anne Johnson (English)• Yuri Briar – Kenshô Ono (Japanese) / Dallas Reid (English)• Sylvia Sherwood – Yūko Kaida (Japanese) / Stephanie Young (English)
Speaking to ComicBook.com at AnimeExpo in July 2022, Anya actress Megan Shipman shed some light on what makes her character so special.
“I think what people find, or what I found so endearing about her, is the fact that she is a child that is actually a child,” she said. “She’s not like a 10,000-year-old being in a five-year-old body. She’s an actual child. And I think that’s what makes her so endearing is her thought process is that of a child and she’s written so well as a child.”
SPY x FAMILY season one covered roughly six volumes (37 chapters) of the manga, so we’d expect a second season to cover a similar amount of ground, and there are at least roughly five volumes worth of stories that remain unadapted.
Listings for SPY x FAMILY DVDs have confirmed that season 2 will consist of 12 episodes in total – meaning it will come to an end on December 23, just after the CODE: WHITE movie is released in Japan.
Given the next five volumes are already available, there are tons of spoilers out there for fans curious about what’s next in season two and beyond.
Whatever happens, the ‘family’ part of the title will be as important as the ‘spy’ element in season two (via The Mary Sue).
“I love that the show really reinforces the fact that family can look like a lot of different things. And that the more important thing is the communication, the respect you have for each other, and the desire to work together to be a good family unit that cares about each other,” voice actor Natalie Van Sistine said.
“They are all so focused on themselves and not wanting to do anything wrong for their own personal reasons,” Megan Shipman said.
“I think that’s so relatable. And I think it’s a good message because it really shows you everyone has doubts about themselves. So, it’s a really great show that is way more relatable once you start watching it.”
But what about that SPY x FAMILY movie? Officially titled SPY x FAMILY CODE: White, the movie is based on an original story and will be directed by Takashi Katagiri, who oversaw production on key episodes in season one.
Forger fans are in luck, as a trailer for SPY x FAMILY CODE: White has already been released. The trailer, above, details the adventure facing Loid, Anya and Yor (although you might need to brush up on your Japanese to understand what’s going on).

In the trailer, we see Loid deciding to enter Anya into a cooking competition to win another prestigious Eden Academy Stella Star. Determined to have her learn how to make the principal’s favourite dessert, the Forgers embark on a confectionary-themed journey that will see Anya’s curiosity get the whole family into some serious trouble. No change there, then.
It’s been confirmed that the plot is all new — outside of anything fans have seen in the manga. And when the trailer was recorded, the story was so secret that even the actors didn’t know what was happening!
“When I was first recording the promotional video, I was only told the basics or general plot of the story,” star Takuya Eguchi said (via Crunchyroll). “I just knew that it was going to be something completely new and not in the manga.
“So I couldn’t really imagine what it was about back then. I know what the story is about now though, and I’m definitely looking forward to playing the role again! I’m looking forward to everyone’s surprise, and I think everyone will enjoy it.”
A number of trailers for SPY x FAMILY season two were released before the show premiered — and can be found at the top of this article.
As expected, the trailer teases the opening few episodes, including a look at Loid and Yor’s first official date — it’s all very cute.
