How To Make A Right Planter Glove

With the warm weather outside, now is the perfect opportunity to freshen up your garden and get creative. One easy way to change things up is to build your own planter.

I’m not talk about an ordinary planter; rather, build a creative and unique planter that all your neighbors will be jealous of.

Here, Jenise from DIY Fun Ideas shows you how to create DIY concrete planter hands step-by-step. This might sound weird at first, but trust me, the end result is stunning.

To start, you will need the following materials:

  • dry concrete
  • mixing bucket
  • plastic gloves
  • scissors
  • pretty rocks
  • dust mask
  • gardening trowel
  • plants (of your choice)

First, put your dust mask on and mix the dry cement in a mixing bucket. Make sure there are no bumps and that the cement is smooth. Once you are finished, it will look something like this…

Using a gardening trowel, scoop up the cement mixture and fill a plastic glove with it. The gloves you use should be durable – they shouldn’t be super thin otherwise they’ll break at this step.

Jenise says, “I squeezed the fingers of the glove to push the air out and then to get the cement to the bottom of the fingers you have to sort of ‘milk’ the fingers as if you were milking a cow.”

Wiggle the glove around to ensure there are no air bubbles. Repeat this process for the second glove. Be sure to do this quickly as the cement will set and dry very quickly.

Once the gloves are filled and the cement has hardened (but not completely), make an incision into the glove along the pinky side. Squeeze a tiny bit of cement out.

Next, press the pinky sides of the hands together so it looks like two hands next to each other. You want to ensure that these two hands merge together to form one piece.

Then, shape the fingers so that they are in a “cupping” position. Place a rock between the thumb and index finger to keep them separated.

Once the cement has dried, peel off the gloves using scissors.

Now take them to your garden and use these hands as a planter. It’s a unique and gorgeous touch!
