Who Wins Big Brother

Jordan Sangha has been crowned the winner of Big Brother 2023 – after triumphing over the other finalists on the night.

TV fans were delighted this year when ITV revived the iconic reality show after Channel 5 axed it back in 2018. And now after six weeks of drama, bickering, tears, tantrums and even a love triangle, the show has reached a conclusive climax.

The finalists on the night were 25-year-olds Henry Southan, Jordan, and Yinrun Huang alongside 23-year-old Scottish dancer Olivia Young and 26-year-old beauty queen Noky Simbani. But it was Jordan who was triumphant on the night.

Clearly shocked the moment they realised they had won – and that they would be taking home £100,000 in prize money – Jordan sat in stunned amazement while fellow contestant Olivia congratulated him. The win was something of a surprise on the night as Yinrun had, by far, received the loudest cheers from the live audience as the finalist were voted out until Jordan won.

After winning the show, Jordan appeared on companion show Big Brother: Late and Live where he fielded questions from hosts Aj Odudu and Will Best. Discussing his win, he said he “hasn’t the foggiest” why the public voted for him to win, but said he was “honoured” to be crowned the 2023 winner.

Ackhnowledging that he is now £100,000 richer, he chortled: “The money will be nice, won’t it…. did I think I could win it? No.”

Addressing his relationship with Henry, he said: “When I saw Henry come through the door I thought ‘here comes trouble’… we were both wearing velvet. I thought there’s no one I want to win over more.” He also explained why, when he was in the house, he referred to his romance with Henry as ‘platonic with kisses’, he admitted “I need to read up on platonic love… I need to research more into that.”

Asked what the next step is for his relationship with Henry, Jordan teased: “Henry and I made a promise that whoever wins, we would go to a five star hotel or somewhere decent… with a twin room. We won’t be sleeping in the beds!”

During Friday night’s live final, Noky was the first of the five finalists to be shown the door. The stunned housemate declared to her fellow finalists: “I love you all so much” as she prepared to leave the Big Brother house and face the cheering crowds outside.

In a post eviction interview, the beauty queen said: “I can’t even describe how I’m feeling. I’m feeling speechless which is rare for me.” Noky had received the most nominations over the course of the series and had been up for nomination multiple times.

Show host Will Best asked why she thought she survived past evictions to make it all the way to the final. Noky replied: “I think I kept it real throughout. I got a lot of resistance form fellow housemates if I was authentic or not, but I stuck to my guns… I think people respect that consistency.”

Next out of the house was Yinrun. – who was overwhelmed as the crowd cheered for her upon her exit. Her position as the fourth place contestant may have been a surprise to many viewers as the live audience made the most noise for her and were singing songs about her in the run up to her eviction.

In her post exit interview, Yinrun said: “I was very shy for the first week especially and I struggled int he first week. I felt like the outsider. I had the least similarities with the other housemates and I didn’t consider myself as stunning as the others. Through the process and with the support of my housemates who gave me encouragement, I learned so much.”

In third place was professional food critic Henry who was next to leave the house. As he exited he asked his potential boyfriend Jordan to “book us a holiday” – after the pair grew very close during the course of the show.

Joining Aj Odudu and Will on the podium outside the house, Henry joked: “I need a glass of champagne!” And as the hosts grilled him after the commercial break, he discussed his feelings for Jordan.

Henry, accepting a glass of champagne, gushed: “It’s been amazing [getting to know Jordan]. I couldn’t imagine my experience in there without him. Once he lets you in, it’s really wonderful and you feel it’s a real privilege.”

Addressing the love triangle that engulfed him, Jordan and former housemate Matty Simpson, Henry said: “It was like trying to solve a Rubik’s cube. I love Matty to bits and we’re all great now.”

Olivia was left in second place and said she was “buzzing” as she joined Aj and Will after she left the house. Speaking to the hosts after her eviction, the Scottish dancer recalled being put up for eviction on her first night on the show, saying: “On that first night, I thought ‘I’m a gonner. What a waste of a journey’…”

She was regularly nominated for being “too loud” but this was a quality Olivia was unashamed about. She told Aj and Will: “I walked in the house and said I will be the annoying little sister.”

Meanwhile Big Brother fans should brace themselves for plenty more reality show action in the year ahead. Following the finale, ITV released a press announcement, declaring: “Applications for the next series of Big Brother are now open. Hopefuls looking to embark on the ultimate social experiment can now apply to be a part of the next series of Big Brother set to air in 2024.”

They added: “ITV recently announced that Celebrity Big Brother will also return to screens next year. Airing on ITV1 and ITVX, Celebrity Big Brother will see a new cast of famous faces isolated from the outside world, taking up residence in the iconic Big Brother house.”
