Not too long ago, I’d buy any makeup that was cheap (i.e. found at the dollar store, not drugstore brands). I didn’t care about how low quality and potentially bad it was. And, honestly, I made a mistake. The brands I will be reviewing are Kleancolor and L.A. Colors. These are the specific products I purchased, with links to their pages on the brand’s website:

- Kleancolor American Eyecon Shadow Palette

These brands can be found in dollar stores and on the internet. I bought my products on MissA, a $1 accessory website, which, by the way, is actually pretty good besides the fact they carry these two brands.

I bought a bunch of products from these two brands, and I’m going to be honest here: I was excited to be getting all of this makeup for super cheap.
I also found that both of these product lines are cruelty-free, which made me trust them more.
So, my package finally arrives, and I prepare to test all of the makeup I purchased. Here’s what I found:
- both brands of eyeshadow are really, really chalky and the top layer of color on the eyeshadow comes off when a brush is used, revealing a different color under it (misleading colors)
- both eyeshadows had very minimal pigment, especially the Kleancolor palette
- the Kleancolor Lipstick Reign lipsticks had no color at all
- the Kleancolor Femme lipstick was extremely greasy and I could tell it wouldn’t stay on long
- the L.A. colors eyeshadow was actually hard to remove with my makeup remover soap

To clear up any confusion: I don’t mean drugstore brands when talking about “cheap makeup”. I mean weird, sketchy brands you find only on the internet or in dollar stores.
Anyway, pros and cons. I’m going to do this for anything I review, no matter how good or how bad a product is. In this case, bad.
