Now we’re hearing from a private investigator who worked alongside local detectives.

“Can you care too much? I don’t think you can care too much,” said Leslie Albrecht.
She and her partner Chris Holland say they work together to solve cold criminal cases.
“His background comes as a former special agent F.B.I. He’s retired. Mine was the municipality police department. Both of us bring expertise, federal, state, and you just combine them both,” explained Albrecht.
The duo assisted Douglas County investigators in their quest to solve the murder of Kelle Ann Workman. Authorities say the 24-year-old was abducted in Douglas County in 1989. Her body was later found in Christian County. Douglas County Sheriff Chris Degase announced the arrests of three men he says are responsible just last week.

“When I met the Workmans I remember sitting down and saying, introduce me to Kelle. They did. Pam Workman wrote the most beautiful statement for me saying I want you to meet Kelle my best friend. I was crying when I was done. I was going to work that case,” said Albrecht.
She says not every case gets picked up.
“It has to be something that I’m feeling like there’s going to be some leads. Most importantly, I’m accepted and brought into the fold for law enforcement to work with me,” said Albrecht.
Local authorities gave Albrecht and Holland permission to take a look at the case.
“The public sees the job and the work that we do and that instills trust. When that trust is instilled people are more apt to come forward. I think that’s what happened in this case. Yeah, there were, Chris Holland did a great job on that and some information from some private investigators, that obtained information also helped out in this case. It was really a community effort,” said Degase.
Albrecht said, “We went back to the beginning to see if we got to the same point that the other investigators at some point got to. At that point, we take it even further and see how much more we can do.”

Ultimately investigators say an eyewitness came forward, giving them the evidence needed to take this case to a grand jury.
“We got to that very end and we realized, it’s going to happen. There’s just nothing like it,” said Albrecht.
Albrecht says she’s working on another cold case in the Ozarks.
As for the three men, Bobby Lee Banks, Leonard Dwight Banks, and Wiley Belt, they’ll be back in a Douglas County Courtroom next week.
